View Full Version : Universal Remote - Which one to buy????

Our company has taken on more and more commercial accounts. You know the ones the controller is in some tiny room in the back, full of who knows what and the only door you can use is up front.
So I am ordering a universal remote - either TRC or Station Master. I have used the TRC before with no problems but the station master seems to be a favorite on this forum.
So if you owners/users don't mind give me your quick 2 cents worth why you would chose one over the other.
Thanks!

Rain Master, not Station.

RM is probably best for commercial.

Station Master sounds like it's from a kids show

Dana how's the TRC working for you?

Working pretty good. Had a problem at one commercial project. No obstruction. Raining though. Transmitter really needs to have antennae pointing up, or at least not sitting on the ground.

Very happy with it. Don't use it enough. Still don't have the extra 15-20 minutes to add a pigtail to most jobs. Trying to at least add one to the larger jobs though.

The guy you want to talk to is Fimco. He is the resident expert on RainMaster remotes and pigtails. He should be on early in the morning and I'm sure he will chime in. (Actually he might be sitting in line at the theater for the Star Trek movie, so who know's) You could PM him your number or Email address.

He might even have a remote for sale.

Longer range and more durable. TRC eats batteries like a fat kid who hasnt eaten in weeks.

Auto Up and Down on RM. Newer TRC's come with auto up and down though finally.

belt clip might lack on the TRC, not sure.

I already got my tickets. Daughter and I are going to IMAx Theatre tomorrow.

GO RAINMASTER UA. JDL I believe has really good deal going on them. I will say though that I and Hokie had to send brand new ones in for service so there quality control has been a problem lately. I'd still go RM though.

Might have to ask the local jdl what they want out of curiosity. They aren't passing on RB's lower list thou.

Is there any reason you couldn't buy from a Dallas JDL?

I'll call my local guy and see what he says about Company policy on purchasing a RM from Dallas as opposed to CO.

I'm getting mixed information from RM about the date of manufacturing of the remotes: will get to the bottom of it today. I think this is important to anyone buying one online.
