hello, I recently bought the newest big daddy (8560) and am having huge issues trying to start it (everyday). I got to the point this week where I started counting how many pulls it would take. Monday was 16, Tuesday 12, Wed.through Friday averaged between 12 and 15. Even after it is warmed up or in the middle of the day it still takes around 5-10 pulls!
My Foreman bought his own blower and bought a redmax, I hate to say it but it starts way easier and seems to have slightly more power. It has made me wonder if this things carb is set right, it seems like when I am blowing that the rpms just are not as high as they could be or need to be, almost as if this thing was built with 1 more gear but I have not been able to hit that gear, again maybe the carb and rpms settings?
Please tell me this isn't normal, if it is I am sorry to say I will be taking it back.
I have a bad back (disc) and can not afford to sit here and fight this thing everyday. I told everybody up and down that you guys make the best blowers on the market, I really hope this can be fixed!
Please help me, pm me if need be, I will give you the dealer name, my name, number, whatever I just am at wits end and really need some A+ service to get this fixed.
thanks,
Jeff

What is a 8560? Do you mean 8520? or 8510 or 802? Nothing on their site for 8560 that I see.
If it is new take it to the dealer and they should adjust it for nothing. My 8510 needed some tweaking but it works great now. Also what fuel and oil is being used.

Uggggg.... I meant 8520. Thanks for the catch. The fuel is regular fuel with synthetic Stihl mix. I am going to take it in to them probably today. I know part of the issue is the stupid environmental crap on it.

I agree with djagusch - take the unit back to the dealer for service. Our experience with this blower has been that it starts very easily but there is always an occasional one that needs a little service.

If it has the throttle on the tube there is a switch that says Turbo and Db I think. Make sure the switch is set to turbo or it will not run full RPM. The other position will run it so the noise level is at 65Db when it is setup properly (RTFM). If thats not it take it to the dealer, it should start within 5 pulls max, usually less. My experience is that it blows the heck out of anything else out there.

The only problem I've had is that the first pull is rough, in what I mean very hard to pull, but after that not a problem, and also it takes about a minute or so to actually blow full force. Is this normal? I've heard other people complain about the same thing. Mine starts in about two pulls after I prime it using 4 pumps.

I need to check that out, because I think mine could blow stronger than it does, I know it has it but never messed with it, so maybe mine is not in Turbo, I'll look at it tomorrow.

I just got the new 802 and its unbelievable... 1 pull and thats it.
Question
Are you priming it to remove the air in the lines?
Are you choking it?
If not this is your problem... ALSO you better start using medium grade or super fuel.
My mower shop has about 4 different types of pistons/cylinders that blew up over the summer using regular fuel.
Just another IMO

Yea I prime it, it starts off with one or two pulls, it is in the turbo setting, the quite mode just keeps the throttle from being set on high.
Its OK but still not quite as good as I thought it would be, a little better than my old Redmax. It is getting better with the first pull not hanging up like it was doing, must be breaking in.
I will need to start using the mid grade or super, thanks for the heads up.
It is a cold natured beast for the first few minutes.
Has anybody had the opportunity to compare the Shindaiwa EB8520 with the Redmax 8000/8001 units. I have the Redmax 8000 unit. It's been a great blower. I'm considering trading it in for the Shindaiwa eb8520 but only if there's a significant power increase with the Shindaiwa. The specs seem to indicate that there is. The Redmax puts out 688 cfm at the pipe while the Shindaiwa puts out 813 cfm at the pipe. However, I'd like to see some real-world comparisons before buying.

I have used the Shindaiwa EB630 for years and love it, I think that it is comparable to your Red Max as far as power. This past year I purchased the EB8520 and all I can say is WOW. My men raved so much about its power that I purchased 2 more, weeks later.
Keep it simple, Tony

Thanks Tony. Sounds like that eb8520 surpasses the Redmax 8000. How do find the fuel consumption. My 8000 sucks up a lot of fuel.

The Shindaiwa claim of 813 cfm at the pipe has been downgraded to 760 cfm since ECHO and Shindaiwa merged. You can see it in their newest catalog. However it will still out perform the RedMax easily. Just demo both of them and you can tell a noticeable difference. You will also notice the Shindaiwa is much lighter, more comfortable, and uses less fuel.
