when roughing the edge with a chisel or hammer isnt going to do it just because of so much cut surface area, what do you do? Can you "sand" bluestone down somehow? Polish it? Something else?

If you made the entire cut with a saw blade your going to get the look of a cut edge, if you use a chisel and hammer to score/break the edge you will get a more natural edge, seems like wasted time to cut the edge with a saw then try to rough the edge up.....if you insist on using the saw just lightly score the block to give you your break line then hammer/chisel.

I have had luck in the past if the material is wet enough using a torch. It will heat up the water in the rock and pop off the outer edges, giving a broken look again.

I find it works best with limestone, but have had OK luck with bluestone. Might have to soak it in water, it's worth a try.

thanks, that was what I was thinking of, thermaling with acetaline torch. Were talking 4 inch thick rock so snap edge-not an option.
