Best article I have read in ages. He explains the unintended consequences of a carbon policy that only limits us. We actually will end up putting more carbon in the atmosphere. Capturing carbon is the way to go. Nuclear Energy as well. I'm getting off my passing fancy with wind and solar. The cost of duplicating our current energy usage with wind and solar will drive every corporation out of the US. Economies run on cheap energy. No third world country is going to not take advantage of cheap energy and the world is afloat in coal.

i'm with you fimco bring on the nukes. we've not built any since what the 70s (i know the newest one went online in 1996 but not sure when it was designed or started. just imagine what we could accomplish in terms of safety and efficiency w/ today's technologies.
They're adding a reactor to the plant in Matagorda, TX right now. Took over 20 years to get it approved though.

The joy of ethanol....
Coal
Based on ICM data, we expect that our plant will consume approximately 133,000 tons of lignite coal per year (375 tons of lignite coal per operating day) for which we have a ten-year contract with *****. This contract provides that we can purchase and have delivered to our plant approximately 133,000 tons of lignite coal annually, or 375 tons per operating day. The price for the lignite coal is established by the contract and escalates annually through 2014 from $17.45 per ton in 2007 to $18.00 per ton in 2014, subject to adjustment based on delivery costs incurred by ***** to deliver the coal to our plant.
Water supply is also an important consideration. To meet the plant’s full operating requirements for water, we have entered into a ten-year contract with ****** to purchase raw water. Under the contract we are required to purchase a minimum of 200 million gallons per year.
Employees
We presently have 2 full-time employees, both of whom are administrative assistants working with our General Manager
