We've got a job to give an estimate on that includes removing weeds from an evergreen groundcover. What's a good selective spray that would kill the weeds w/o hurting the groundcover or any other desired plant?

To my limited knowledge, there isn't one. 2 4-D would kill the ground cover and the weeds.

Yes there is, but you may need to be licensed in your state to buy it. If it is available in VA. It would help to know what you are trying to control and what you are trying to save.

It is called Ornamec (Fluazifp-butyl) and Sethoxydim (Vantage)

Ornamec is sold here at TSC to customers and Sethoxydim is also sold in Nurseries.
Read the label and discover if the plants that are growing are listed on that label. If you don't know the names..........then do some research.
The products I use is restricted and yes you are limited........!

Ornamec is only for grassy weeds in ornamentals.
you can spray 24d all day long in grassy ornamentals to kill broadleaf weeds.
it all depends on your target weed, and what it is growing in. check with the local Ewing or Lesco branch, they will help you out.

Here's a pic of the area we are trying to control. We want to get rid of the weeds in this ground cover. I think it's Juniper.

read the label for Image. It might work out for you.

One of my customers has an area of Juniper on a slope like in your picture. I go through it with my trimmer and cut the weeds. It doesn't get rid of them, but at least you can't see them sticking out of the Juniper.

Mowinginva,
It is hard for me to see the weeds that are growing from your photo! Try to i.d. them first and search for an herbicide.
EagleLandscape,
Thanks for the response! After a photo was submitted, it is obvious that he has broadleaf and not grassy weeds. When a person asks how to eliminate weeds on this forum it is hard to understand what they have. Yes, Ornamec is for grassy weeds only, as we use it fluently here all the time..........Doesn't work on Zoysia elimination though! LOL!
David Shumaker,
We have several customers with mound junipers that become riddled with Zoysia grass and the stuff is always taller than the junipers. We have been asked to go in on foot and raise each stem and remove the grass from underneath. The problems at hand is, the fact, that your feet do more damage than good. Too many limbs are destroyed, broken and damaged to be beneficial for us. I have 2 telescoping trimmer attachments, and they work temporarily. But trimming these junipers to eliminate the grass isn't feasible as the junipers do not need that much pruning.
