Well I ordered a 12 volt hydraulic pump for my dump deck I sure hope this works its 600 dollars for the electric pump. Its one of the best one I can get. Now I have to build brackets to mount the pump to the frame rail.

The biggest head scratcher is how I'am going to hook up 12 volts to the pump. Why Ford makes such crappy battery clamps there is no way of tapping some lines into them. With the old style lead battery clamps you were able to use the bolt to ad accessories too. These new stamped steel battery clamps thats not possible

The hydraulic dump pump I bought I can't send back so I'am trying to sell it. I may have to eat the 400 dollars

I sent the hydraulic tank back hopefully I get a refund on that.

Discovered I had my hoist installed the wrong way its a post hoist so I had to rotate the hydraulic cylinder 180 degrees now I need to build new lifting lugs the hoist attach too :nono:

What a pain this is become I sure hope this 12 volt pump works I can't spend any more money. I know its going to be slower than a PTO pump or a clutch pump. To fit a clutch pump or hydraulic PTO pump to these trucks is tough.

I can see why these upfitters charge 2 grand in labour to install a dump body. A complete dump body I was looking at 10-12 grand. I'am still ahead of the game I have 3000 into my deck and all the labour myself.

Like they say you have to spend money to make money my credit cards are a little up there

In my Chev 1 ton I have it set up with a side terminal battery for the truck, using the standard top terminals for the hoist pump. Gives a good solid connection w/o a wiring mess.

That's how I would do it as well. That setup is more basically what most dump trailers use and it seems to work well. Having an extra battery in the system to equalize the electrical demands on the truck is a good way to go. Downside is that you have another battery and set of terminals to maintain. As long as you get a good deep cycle, you're golden.

Well I got some brackets made and mounted my 12 volt pump today. I was looking today there really isn't any place I can install a 3rd battery so I will try tap into the trucks batteries. I just replaced both the trucks batteries couple months ago. With these newer Fords you need to use the group 65 batteries.

Ohwell slowly getting there now I need to build new lifting lugs for the hoist and some more brackets to hold the hoist and finally it will dump

I can see why these upfitters use scissor hoists too because they are easier to install. The front mount telescoping hoist is alot of farting around and extra work making it work but its worth it. Scissor hoists power out and add alot more weight to the truck.

I'd just replace one of the truck batteries with a dual terminal battery that has both side and top terminals, then you could just tap into the extra set and not have to dick around with splicing into your system. If you're like me, an extra battery laying around finds a home pretty fast anyway if you have to pull out a newer one in the Ford.

You can drill and helicoil the top of the posts if your careful.

There is usually a main connection at the power dist box that will support 100+ amps.

I'am still kicking around the idea for a third battery then I never have to worry about screwing something up. These new trucks nowwadays are more finnicky than a woman. Too much voltage drop and it buggers up the computer.

The third battery could be charged like a camper or trailer battery.

I just hope this electric pump has enough power to operate this hoist. With it being a telescoping hoist it needs to fill up the cavities that pretty much stay full all the time.

A scissor hoist has a 20 inch stroke the hoist I have has a 97 inch stroke.

All of our trucks have PTO pumps and scissor hoists.

I have only had one of the trucks have trouble dumping when it was loaded 20-30 thousand pounds overweight.

I don't think we would EVER go back to an electric over hydraulic hoist, but a dump of this size it might work just fine. I guess you will know soon enough.

just get yourself one of these little things that slip onto the battery post

With this only being a F-450 it should be okay for now. Have to see how well it works. If its real slow I will have to deal with it. I can't afford to spend anymore money.

I do have a PTO on the truck so if I have to do PTO hydraulics I can.
