The question should be, where can't I buy a big roll. Lowes, Home Depot, Ebay and your local dealers all sell the 3 and 5 pound rolls. There are also tons of advertisers flashing all over the borders of this site that sell them.

J-thomas.com is another place.

Wal-mart is not one of the places you can get them......

I use the .105 titanium from lowes. I don’t much care for the ,095. Im not going to say they are the best on the market since it will probably start a fight but I will say I like it better then all the rest…..but….it is pure hell on siding if you know what I mean ha-ha

I have used several and in fact think this the best, plus I like the gray color.........no pieces of pink/orange/green laying around.......

I got a roll from walmart that has lasted me 5 years, with me and another solo using it (my dad), I got the better stuff and gave him the roll though.

What is the best on the market?

I get the Echo brand .095 line in an 800ft roll. . . It lasts a long time and is not that expensive, really. I also soak the roll in water before I use it - seems to last longer that way.

right now im use .080 weedeater string in my echo only becuase i got the roll free from a friend that use to do lawncare. but i do perfer .080 over bigger string i feel that te bigger string blows the grass over before i cut it.
but the for heavy weeds its ether plastic blades or .130 string

Ok…I fell out laughing on this one…what in the world would soaking it in water have to do with anything?? I honestly cant see how that would make it last longer but considering it has been raining here about 3 days a week and we are still mowing in the rain….well, I guess I soak my string before using it too lol

Soaking it in water keeps it from getting brittle. It doesnt brake off as quick and keeps it from melting together inside the head.

What mowerknower said. . .

Here's an experiment: leave a spool of line sitting in a dry, dusty spot for a year, and then see if it still lasts as long as your brand new string. . .

Unless you use a lot of cord you might be better off getting the small rolls. It is easy for the stuff to degrade especially out in the sun. We have been having good luck with Echo cord and JT Thomas green stuff. We only run the .095" and we use a lot of it.

Lol…ok, I learned something here and I guess it is a good point. I still don’t see how water will keep it from shrinking but I can see the other points. We are going through about 2 large rolls a months so I don’t think I have to worry about that.

Thanks for following up, I honestly thought I was a joke lol.
