View Full Version : Buying a new Dodge

I am looking at buying a new Dodge HD 2500 auto 5.9 v8 with pretty much the works ie.. plow prep, trailer tow package, fog lights, power. They are asking 23k, but a never owned a dodge truck before. I went to look around at used f150 - 250s. Chevy 1500 - 2500, or maybe the Dodges. The price seemed right and it is not used and it has the full factory warranty. I have the truck for 3 days to test out and try and make a decision.
Any input would be great.

One of our sub contractors bought a 2002 F250 Super Duty with the Trinton V8 for around $23000 and its 4wd. He bought it at Portsmouth Ford or try Hillboro Ford or do a yahoo search for Dodge dealers in your area. www.rochesterlmtd.com www.hillsboroford.com www.graniteford.com www.arundleford.com www.leedodge.com www.chevroletoflowell.com www.americar-superstore.com

23k for the SLT 2500 HD. wow thats a pretty good price. around here, 2002 2500 Hd with SLT package is about 26k. we have 2 dodges one is an ST(96 2500 HD), and the other is an SLT(98 2500 HD). we paid 23 for the 96 with the plow, and 25 for the SLT without the plow.
one plus about the 2002 dodges is that they now have a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty.
our first one had 3/36,000, and the second

Do you like the Dodges ohiolawnguy, and are they still going strong? I have heard in the past they had some tranny issues, but I guess they have been resolved now with the new trucks.

yes, they had some tranyy issues. bith of the trucks we have had the reverse linkage go out at around 24,000 miles.
on the 96 it actually turned out to be a factory recall. supposedly, these problems have been resolved.
they were both under warranty, so it didnt cost us a penny to have fixed. just loss of use time.
im biased, because ive always driven dodge trucks. :)
when they first came out in 94, i knew there would be some problems that dodge would have to tinker with. i don't know of any new production vehicle that can say otherwise.
now that that body style has been out for almost 9 years, they have the design and reliability of the truck down firy well.
yes, i think they are good trucks. one thing i really like about them is comfort. i get in a ford, and i feel very crammed in there like sardine.(im 6'3").
other than the transmission, they have both run great for us.
BTW, i think there is also a $400.00 discount if you intend to purchase through your business, and not yourself.
one thing i wouldn't want is the factory plow. the dealer is always trying to make a big profit on that. our 98 they wanted $3600 for the meyer plow. we said thanks, but no thanks and bought one on our own.
