Do any of y'all run bluetooth earbuds or headsets? I have been using a Nxzen 5500 for two years and it has worked great, but now the battery won't hold a charge and it is killing me. Got to find a new one but it looks like Nxzen / Gennum is out of business. I use it in my loader and need to be able to hear it ring and hold a conversation without shutting off the noise maker.

Who has had good results with one of these and could recommend a good one? It's got to be loud, and preferably have a big main button so I can answer calls with my shoulder if my hands are full or are filthy. Oh, and it needs to be LOUD.

I like my plantronics BT, but I don't know that you could answer it with your shoulder.

Is it LOUD?
Is it fairly comfortable to wear all day?
How much did it set you back?

I'm looking at this one. You can hook what ever headphones or earbuds you want to it. I have a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable and could hook it to my worktunes. thereby I could either listen to mp3s on my phone OR the radio that's built in to the worktunes. When a call comes in I can hear the call through the worktunes.

Looks neat but I just need something that lets me talk in a noisy environment. I don't listen to music.

I am looking at a Plantronics Voyager Pro; brand new and supposed to be the shiznit. It's got a 30 day return policy but I will know in two days if it will work.

I was looking at a Jawbone headset last week. Salesman runs marathons and she said she uses it and it works great. Was like $140 though...

Geez, you people must have some pretty high phone sex bills if you always need those head sets while you "work", not me, I just stop what I am doing and talk like a regular person would do with a regular cell phone.

Say what you like, once you have one and use it awhile you will wonder how you ever got anything done without it. I can answer the phone while laying sod or operating or driving and not have to fumble for my phone, I can use both hands... priceless. Also makes it easy to look up info on the phone while still talking on it.

Just holding the phone to your head while you are trying to do anything else is a real productivity killer. Try talking on the phone with one hand while:
-running your machine
-driving your truck
-fueling up
-using hand tools
-laying sod
-typing on the computer
-eating
-picking your nose
-taking a leak

Must be 1000 things I can do better with two hands than one.

You should really try it.

There, I added one in, that's where 2 hands are better than one, and hopefully, one of those 2 hands will be mine.

If you need 2 hands to pick your nose then you have a problem.

And I prefer to have a hands-free leak than a hands-free phone.
Also I typically talk on the phone when I'm fueling machines. It's no biggie. Hold the nozzle with one hand and hold the phone with the other.

Same here, it aint all that hard to run a fuel nozzle and talk? Unless your kinda slow.. ;)

and why cant you drive one handed? ;)

Because real trucks don't shift themselves, Junior.

Right hand = shifter and scratching your nuts
Left hand = steering and lights

Well excuse me, I was speaking to Site, from what I understand he only has a 350, unless it is a manual, then he doesnt have this problem..

And this came to mind when I posted that btw..

Thats exactly what I do. I could never walk around all day with one stuck in my ear talking to myself:rolleyes:

myself being in charge of around 12 guys (3-4 crews) I'm on the phone a lot. I have a jawbone namely because whomever I'm talking to can hear me quite well even if I'm on a loader or more often near a loader/truck or whatever going on. When driving it's a necessity.

Some of you guys... geez.

If you don't like technology, I have no beef with you. I am just saying, it makes life a lot easier if you are using one. Sure you can talk on the phone while fueling, but can you open the loader door & unscrew the filler cap, while holding the nozzle in your hand, and talking on the phone? It just makes things a lot simpler when you don't always have to put the phone down to do something or wait to do something while you talk on the phone.

I have had enough pinching the phone between my ear and shoulder to last me forever.

I don't have to take my phone out of the holster, and so I don't have to worry about dropping it.

I can drive, answer the phone without looking away from the road, and jot down notes with my right hand without taking my left hand off the wheel. And yeah, I have the 5R110 in my 350 so I don't have to shift it. Another example of technology freeing me up to do other things.

Yeah, the peeing thing was a bad example.

These things are really indispensable. More cities are coming up with laws about talking on the phone without handsfree. And even if there isn't a law, who wants to attract extra attention from the man?

How is the Jawbone on LOUDNESS?

This Plantronics I am trying out has good noise cancelling; I held a conversation this morning while tilling my garden with my noisy little two cylinder Yanmar. I could hear him, he could hear me. BUT, I don't know if I will keep it because you can't hear the tones when the phone is ringing. I have adjusted the volume but it's barely a whisper. I thought it wasn't even working until somebody called me when I just happened to have shut my truck off. Missing calls is one reason I started using the bluetooth in the first place.

***OK, y'all can go back to kickin me in the nuts***

can't you have the phone on vibrate in bluetooth mode?

can't you have the phone on vibrate in bluetooth mode?

I can put the phone on LOUD + Vibrate but chances are I will never hear it or feel it while running equipment. Riding around in my truck is no problem; I can hear the phone ringing. My old bluetooth would ring so loud in my ear it was almost painful, but I never missed a call.

I keep mine up in my shirt pocket so I always feel it vibrate. Don't know if that is an option for you. I wear Carhartt pocket tees.

I have had it in shirt pockets and not felt it before... besides, it falls out too easy and not all my shirts have pockets. I have a holster on my hip that was originally for a pocket pc, it's heavy cloth with velcro so it holds it in good and still has some flexibility to it.

The big problem is, I just liked things they way they were, I had a good system, now I don't. Aggravating.

Picked up another one to try out today. Blue Ant V1, $129 retail. Sound is good, fit is great, and it doesn't beep when a call comes in, it tells me I have a call. It speaks in clear, LOUD english and says "Call from xxx-xxxx". Frickin wonderful. I haven;t missed any calls today.

Only problem, the noise cancelling is pretty weak. I had people misunderstanding me all day long. I asked for 60 penny nails and got 6 penny nails. I had dump trucks full of gravel show up unexpectedly. I had one guy trying to give me work just give up and say he would talk to me tomorrow.

WHY?! It's not like #$%^&* rocket science.

I am going to find the right one eventually, and then I am buying two of them so I don't have to go through this crap again for a long long time.

funny thing today...I had to call the health insurance company to add our newborn to the policy. Of course they put you on hold forever and I had things to do. SO..I stuck my phone..Samsung Rugby...UNDER my Worktunes...guess what...IT WORKED!! I could hear when they came back fro hold and shut the trimmer off. Just stood there having a conversation with the phone stuck under the earmuff....yeah...REDNECK!!

quite good, I really like it. I can usually hear it ring unless I'm right beside an engine, even then I can usually feel my iphone shaking.

Traded the Plantronics Pro back to Best Buy this morning and picked up a Jawbone. The Plantronics was just too heavy and too quiet on my end, although the noise cancelling was good.

So far, so good with the Jawbone. The sound quality is not bad, but I haven't really tried it out in the loader yet. It seems kinda quiet when it rings but at least the other party can hear me. Fits good and light weight.

I'll let y'all know how it works out.
