Hey guys,
We're having a lot of trouble with grass/weeds coming up in the mulch beds we have installed this year. We're having to spray them weekly with glyphosate and trim them also to keep the weeds out. Any of you guys using a pre-emergent on your mulch beds to keep grass/weeds from germinating? If so what kind? Thanks JW

Here is the Midwest's bible regarding landscape ornamental & nursery weed control:

I myself am partial to Casoran 4G specifically in areas where there's been a history of Canadian thistle &/or certain grassy weeds, like nutsedge.
We'll use it very sparingly, but quite religiously in certain beds that we know wont have ANY chance of down hill water runoff into highly maintained turf areas.
Troublesome landscaped parking lot islands are often ideal targets for Casoran 4G.
What do we use everywhere else?
Either Pendulum Aquacap tank mixed w/ Gallery, or Snapshot, depending upon whether we're doing liquid or dry.
If the homeowner puts the proper depth of muclh down, you will not have anything.

Proper prep work and maintenance is the only way in my book. Remove ALL the grass/weeds and roots before the mulch goes in then pull anything out when it pops up.
