We can stop the "why is diesel more expensive than gasoline" debate's for a day or two;) .Yes it's a big deal:) for oil burners across the USA.

For the first time in many years it's now cheaper to purchase diesel fuel. Here In Memphis diesel is 1.99 vs $2.25 & up for 87 octane.

Its only cheaper because gas has gone through the roof again. Just a few short weeks ago it was 1.89. Now its 2.15 here. Diesel is 1.98

10 years maybe:rolleyes: I have been on the diesel kool-aid for much longer than 10 years, it's cyclical for the vast majority of business owners to switch from diesel to gasoline trucks as fuel price's change. Diesel did rise today to $2.05, but gasoline went up to $2.32:). I can stop just about anywhere in the Greater Memphis area & diesel is cheaper buy 25 cents sometimes a large price gap in those consistent high price'd area's of town for both gas or diesel.

At some point the bubble will burst and the Gasburners will be whinning, we diehard oil burners are getting some payback on our investments. payup

They have been on a tear here, gas is at 2.50 but diesel has been slowly creeping to 2.23-2.25.

The price of diesel is not connected to the price of gasoline...

There is some relation, such as when the price per barrel rises, so do the prices
of both diesel and gasoline.

But the demand for diesel is completely different than for gasoline, for the most
part diesel's demand is related to agricultural / industrial / commercial.

Diesel also has to factor in weather. Winter home heating fuel is something that cuts into Diesel production. Right now #2 Diesel is being held down by Chavez and gang's cheap price to homeowners of #1 fuel oil. Watch for #2 to rise this summer.

Diesel was a waste product at one time also. Just like gasoline.
