The third picture in the last group looked better in person, but is kind of a crappy lawn. Here's some more. Enjoy!

Last few from me...the last one is all the clippings from one house. My brother in laws house grows very fast. I just fertilized, it rained like mad and I had to let it go a week because I was so behind.

Here are some of the lawns I do. I do them all with a Ferris 48" Hydro Walk Behind. I think the mower does a great job of striping.

very nice!!!! were i used to work we ran walker mowers, the owner had gates welded toward the back of the trailer on the back edge so we could back the mowers into the bed of the truck and dump. It loooks like you got a good setup tho keep up the good wokr

I thought this was a navigator stripe thread and a ferris is not a navigtor. A navigator is exmarks version of a walker.

I would also like to see pictures of your truck set up. I run walkers and thought it would be great to just suck up the clippings but never knew how well it would work. BTW where on that trailer do you put the navigator?it looks full. Also some info on the leaf loader would be nice. Nice set up.

In this pic, the straight stripes are from this week and the diagonal ones are from last week.....and yeah, this week the wind/heat kinda dried up stuff faster than they could turn up their spriklers!

Bill & MasterNate: How much grass do you collect in the spring?
I honestly envy the cleanness (is that a word???) of the bagging front mount mowers. Almost everyone here uses Walkers (because that's what the only dealer in the valley sells)... but MAN!!! All those clippings!!! All that extra time addressing the clippings!! All that extra space needed to hold the clippings!! All that extra gas consumed hauling the clippings!! All that stink when the clippings start to decompose!!:cry::cry:
Ah well, to each their own... I'll but y'all are happier with YOUR mowers than I am with mine. :hammerhead:

I will look for the link with pictures of my setup. The leaf loader is great. It is a Billy goat 18 HP Vanguard and works amazing. It sucks leaves like crazy and takes care of grass clippings so much easier than putting them in green barrels. I tore my shoulder lifting barrels of grass last year and the leaf loader has been a savior. It's less time consuming also.
The navigator gets backed on backwards next to the Exmark Metro and the deck gets put up. Than the Toro gets pulled in the back and turned a little sideways to fit. It's a little tight but I haven't had a chance to try to sell that trailer and look at new ones. The reason the Toro was on there already was because I left my worker at another house to finish up while I was at this house.

Most of my lawns are bagged.....and put on the front of my trailer (sad little 16'er)
So about 3-4 cubic yards in 3 full days. *roughly*
Some of my places I just leave the back door open and let it shoot out the back, it works fine unless the grass is thick and tall. Then it just lays the grass clippings in a row on top of the grass. (not good)
I do not have a side discharge mower, and want a SD walker.

In the spring I take about 1 ton of grass a week which is 3/4 of my truck. They do stink sometimes but as long as you dump the clippings regularly it's not too bad. I feel in most cases it actually saves me time. So many of my lawns are so wet, tall, or thick that I was double or triple cutting and they still were a mess. Don't get me wrong. I probably only bag about half my lawns. I side discharge with the Toro on thinner lawns or when the others are a little more manageable in the summer months. I can't be happier with the Navigator. Just so everyone knows that pile of clippings in the pkicture is not average. That is my brother in laws huge tall thick yard that wasn't cut in two weeks.

With the ammount the grass grows here, I can not get away without bagging. People feel like if they are gonna pay you, you are gonna bag. That is just how it is here, and there is no getting away with it unless it is a large commercial lot, or a cheap account that they just need knocked down.

I know my stripe's are not perfect with our Walker MT so I don't post them, some of those lawns look great, but it surly looks like you guys need to keep a straight line better. Thats what you get for posting your work for all Crazy Lawnsite Members to critique. The Navigators can hang with the Walkers for sure if thats what your trying to say with this thread. Stay off the sauce at work or learn to track straight, keep up the good work guys, still nice job's, just not "perfect".

Dude I really don't need some punk kid telling me I'm not good. I have very happy customers. I do quality work and get people that switch from other companies all the time after they see my work without me even saying a word. I have never once had a complaint about my stripes. I'm not trying to say that I'm Eric Elm or anything but I think it looks good. Why don't you keep working for your dad's company and keep acting like you built it from the ground up like you always do.

Maybe you aren't familiar with cutting in circles. I do it at certain houses and it gets rave reviews. Also I like the curved stripes as a change up from the same old straight lines and again the customers love it. These are very common things in my area and a lot of the really notorious companies in my area do them as well so I'm not the only one. I appreciate your attempt at advice but you can keep it.

Chill out I said they look good (constructive), and if your Customers are happy that's all that matters. This is a Public forum, did you expect privacy.

I'm not gonna lie to ya. I love my Navigator but I am not overly impressed at the way it holds hills sideways. I feel it's a bit better going up and down but overall not that great on hills. You're definitely right about the cut quality. They leave such an awesome cut. Even with the hill issue (for me) I highly recommend an Exmark Navigator.

For anyone with an eye to see (and knows what they're doing), excepting the purposeful arcs made in a few, those squiggles you think you see are merely terrain changes under the grass. The lines are straight - the camera just makes it look otherwise.

The Third tire mark...One way I see it is that there is less pressure on each tire track. those with two tire tracks, there may be more of a chance to Smash the soil if it is soggy? ya these mowers are heavy, but hell we have 5 tires...just throwin that out there.
One more thing, If people have something to say about pics posted, feel free to copy and paste, then edit it with obvious red lines/marks to show what it soooooooooo bad that you can't live with without b!tch!n.

Look, peeps, push come to shove, 99.5% of homeowners don't give a crap about stripes. :dizzy: Stripes are what WE do to keep ourselves occupied and happy. :dancing: We can be as critical as we want, but your typical homeowner won't generally recognize the differences between your best performance on the mower and your worst...
So tearing each other apart is kind of a waste of time. Complaining about mower patterns and mannerisms is a waste of time.
Are we really so juvenile that we're willing to consume our spare hours berating others' work/equipment/performance in a weak attempt to prop ourselves up?
Sometimes I'm embarrassed to be a part of this industry...

How are the controles bass/ackwards? The control panel may be different, but each walker I've driven has been very similar. and as far as being bulky...yup, somewhat...definately not as tight as some of the smalled walkers.
and don't hold your breath on walker foldin! They have it down!

Demoed one last year by request of my dealer. If Walker ever folds I would have a Nav. Too big and bulky, controls bassacwards, not a very good copycat in my opinion. You know I was just kiddin in last post. Felt a little bit like Pic ASS O when I post that one.
I know...I know...I was just messing with you! I ran Walkers for a few years with a company I worked at and they are amazing mowers. My first choice was a Walker but I had to finance it and the dealer that I went to was a pain in the a*s, so I went to another one and they gave me a great deal. I hated it at first and I'm still getting used to it, but for the most part I love it. Just a little background on why I chose the Navigator...not that you asked, but just figured that I'd share.

I found the picture that you're getting your info from and that is one of my employees and he rolled his sleeves up for part of the day. My guys are very professional and in uniform all the time. They are allowed to roll their sleeves up if they are hot during the day.

how do ya go about requesting a MOD to clean this crap up.....and lets keep it on topic boys....jeeeez....go join Pirate4x4 if you wana be a d!ck.....
and I was all happy about a navigator thread....and then all of the fxxkups come in here for what,? I can take neg. comments, but comeon, you have no idea how rough or the terrain is. And if you think that we can just go over it and keep it lazer straight, you are crazy. I am not mowing a putting green, crap any of my lawns are Not flat, or even close to comfy to Bump like hell across....
either way, I would still like this crap cleaned up....or maybe open another thread and have mods make it so there is no text, just pics! that would be great for the Pics forum.

I wanted to post tips last night, but my body is SOOOOO tired from climbing poles all day. Here are a few things I have learned to make my strips better. Note that I am using a Walker, but it my appliy to the Navigator as well.
Tire Pressure. I found that lower tire pressure is a BIG help. My walker tells me to use 24 PSI in the drive wheels. I have been running 18 for years with great results. The front caster wheels also require 12 PSI, I am running 8. The tail wheels are the biggest help. My Walker has dual tail wheels.(Think like a dually pick up truck) They are said to be inflated to 22 PSI. I am running them at 15. These lower tire pressue's make the entire machein roll over bumps and roots much easier. A softer tire will conform to an obstical rather then resist it. One thing to keep in mind, softer tires will roll off the bead a little easier, so be careful on curbs and whatnot. Also, lowering the tires pressure, will bring the machien lower to the ground. I have measured a 1/4" difference. I have rasied the deck back up to proper levels with a washer under the deck lifting pins.
Hydraulics. For straight strips, do not run the machien at full ground speed. I leave the ground speed a hair lower then the top end. For some reason the machien seems a lot less squirrly this way, without really effecting the cutting speed. Also, I fine adjust my hydraulics every other month on my walker. I get on the smooth pavement and see which way the machien pulls, and adjust accordingly.
Final tip for tonight. Use only one hand. I use my left hand fingers to keep the handles in sink with each other. I use to do the two hand thing, but my strips are much better with only one hand. Plus I can use the free hand to pick my nose or scratch my ears:laugh::laugh::laugh: Just kidding.
I dont know how different the Navigator is from the Walker, but hopefully you can use some of these tips to help out.
But I still think the strips look good. It is hard to make perfect strips on un-perfect ground:cry:

This is the first productive post in this thread besides a few other compliments. Let's all give Jared a hand! :clapping: I appreciate the advice. I do use the one hand technique, but I have to try to take some air out of the tires. I never thought of that. The Navigator and Walker are just about the same but I have used both and the Navigator is so much jumpier. That and putting it on hills are the only things that I don't like about it.

well....My navigator only has air in the two drive tires! and they are allready at 8psi.!
thanks for bein positive!
I do wish we had the option for the dually tail wheels....might have to see if some of a walker would fit.
