View Full Version : ex mark died

Was mowing this morning with a ex mark 60" with a kohler 25 and she just quit. I did not hit anything and the motor did not freeze up. It was like someone turned the ignition off. Tried to start it but could not get it to turn over. Slight click in ignition. Just replaced starter? Any suggestions on where to start looking for the problem.

if it is a turf tracer the wiring harness under the switch might be loose. or the wire going up to the bowl under the carburetor also can come loose and cause this. It happens alot if there are low hanging limbs that brush the front of the mower.

check the battery..... if the charging system went out the battery could be down enough not the run the engine.

The "slight click" has nothing to do with ignition.... nothing in the ignition system "clicks" it's the starter relay or solenoid.

And your "Exmark" didn't die, the engine did. Makes the title very misleading.

Might try posting this in the repair forum. But it's likely the charging system..... even though it doesn't take much juice to run the engine if a rectifier goes out no juice to the ignition system which is not related to the starter at all.

If it is like a toro look at the fuses under the seat one may have blown. I had a PTO go bad it blew my fuse and killed the mower like you said. When I replaced the fuse the pto had cooled down and would run again. I had to replace the PTO and fuse and no problems since.

My friend had that very same thing happen on his ferris WB, We couldnt figure it out so he took it to the dealer and they said it wasnt grounded properly and it kept looking for a ground. It only cost around $80. to fix. I dont know how it ran fine for the 3 years prior though?
