Well since I had to move to AK my business was put on the back burner. We are planning on finally settling down in Central FL so I can start up again. I never did the lawn mowing side of things but really want to do that this go around.
Services I want to provide:
lawn mowing
trimming
edging
blowing
weed and insect control
fertilizing
lanscape clean-up
Equiptment to buy:
6'x12' trailer
1 walk behind mower 36"-42" cut- brand undecided
1 zero turn rider 42"-50" cut- brand undecided
2 trimmers- echo seems to be the best
1 backpack blower- stihl or echo
1 edger or multiple attachment tool
Target customer base:
mainly residential with some smaller commercial jobs
What do you all think? Have I left anything out, anything I should rethink or do differently?

6x12 open or enclosed? I'd recommend larger and enclosed, have you created a business plan at all? and are you getting a loan for this or saving?

Aaaaa……are you going to pull your trailer with your mower or did you forget to mention a truck??? Just kidding haha
I recommend focusing on mower and allow your chemical spraying to follow. Chemicals are expensive and takes forever to get a customer base. Your looking at needing at least 200 customers for the chemical aspect just to stay busy. And im sure you have a sprayers license right? If not…..you gonna get in big trouble and get big fines down the road……just through that in there because a lot of people don’t even know you have to be licensed,

Yeah I prefer open trailer. As far as a truck I got one 2007 GMC 2500HD just bought it. Will be using savings and I already have the fertilizer/weed control equiptment. Yes I have been certified for 6 years in pest control and weed control but will have to get a FL. cert for this. My plan is to do what you said and gradually go from there. I would prefer to focus on a few things only to give me a chance to do the best I can. I found that when I tried to do pest control and lawn maintenance it was a real pain.

looks like a great plan if you have the accounts and financial means to back it up. good luck with your business.

Well there in lies the problem....I have no accounts since I'm stuck in AK. But I hope that FL will have enough for me to survive. :) I did ok in IN but had to move here. I hate the cold....

Its really tough in FL this year. There is a ton of low balls out there making it really hard build new customers. If you start as lawn service and then sell your pest and fert to your customers you will do well. All of my customer ask if I offer that service as well. Specially the snow birds. Where in central FL are you looking to move?

Well my wife is still Active Duty Air Force so it would be Cocoa Beach or Northen FL around Panama City. I might do some yards while here it's only a 4 month season though. And all the lawns on Base are very small but might just pay for the equipment.

Well that is not very comforting. Maybe it won't be that bad in Cocoa....I'm sure it will be though.
