yesterday I learned to weld (got a little old stick welder that is like 45 amps or so) and i'm liking it! I built a slip scoop bucket for my old Bush Hog garden tractor. Here's some photos. It will hold 2.5 cu. ft. of whatever. It's 3' wide. This will be my mulch mover :D works pretty good.

i saw a small one made by campbell hausfeld at wally world i liked , it would be for my random usage so power for building skyscrapers isn't required

also got to paint it when i'm completely done with latch. gonna make brackets to put it on front of tractor also. Then I can have a blade on back or something. Can use the blade to push up piles better etc.

very impressive, thats one thing i wanna learn
So that's why I haven't heard much from you............ ;)
Congrats on taking the plunge and trying your hand at "burning". Best way to learn is by doing, IMO - then try out what you've built and see how it works.
Are you sure that machine is 45 amps? Even for 1/16" rod you'd want to try about 50 - 60 amps as a starting point I would think: "rule of thumb" is 1 amp per thousandth of an inch of electrode diameter. (1/16" = approximately .060)

Rob, it's actually a 15 amp welder after I looked. Old Wizard brand. More of an electro magnet than a welder lol it sticks too much. You can burn up a 1/4 of a stick before getting a good spark going. If i'm gonna do much or need a good solid weld I go use my neighbor's welder. It's big and has many many volts. I crank it up to 55 amps with these 1/16 electrodes and it works quite nicely ;) :D
The bucket works great, i've made a better latch now, I just wish I had hydrualic lift. But I can't afford hydraulics just yet. BTW, someone called and wanted me to give him an estimate on 2 acres. Told him $75 trim every other time, he said last guy did it for $45, but had a 60" ZTR and several places in the community, so I said well I'll do it for $65. He said he needs his wife's ok first. He has his own business and his only kid is a teenage boy always at sports stuff so noone to mow but me :D :D :D
hope I get it. got several other 'maybe's' too. :blob4: :blob1: :blob3:
