Im looking for the best way to spread a 7 Prairie grass mixture on about 1/4 of an acre.
Also need a way to spread wild flower seeds.

There's a guy who is going to do that in a wooded area, supposedly this spring yet. It was prepared with Roundup last fall, but the ground is uneven and hard. I have never seen wild flower seeds takeoff ahead of the weeds.
Anyways all seeds plant the same way. From the largest to the smallest. Just have different depth requirement and water monitoring.

Have the area prepped. How would you broad cast the fluffy grass seed.

What about using chest held rotary spreader. Some people mix small seeds with sand and spread the seed/sand mixture. Is this a one time project?

I would hope it is a one time seeding process.

I worked for a prairie nursery, and also took the owner's class for Native Grasses. I'll look tonight for the how-to sheet he gave out. PM your email address and I'll send it to you.

I have been told if you mix a starter fertilizer with the seed and broadcast it that way. Now that sounds good. What do you think.
