Anyone have any tips? From what I've read, it could be as easy as scalping, applying sulfur, and waiting. The area already has some moss present.

Why not? Keep the customer's maintenance costs down.
"My Joe, that's a unique grass you have there."

I talked one client to just let the moss grow in one densly shaded root bound area. Looks better than scraggly grass trying to survive there. Which reminds me - I should weed the area.

Moss gardens aren't hard to install.
Talk to some local nurseries and see if they have any unique varieties available.
Go to PBS on-line, I know the Victory Garden did a show on it.
