Hello,

I am sure that this is an easy question for many of you but I am new to this field and have been tasked to do some research. How do I calculate the inches a week a grassed area receives? Is there a way to do this with the amount of water used over a period of time? I am trying to create a watering schedule for the sports fields in our park. I believe will be doing the water with a water buffalo, not sprinklers.

Thanks for the help

So are we talkin swamp or river buffalo? This will make a difference in precipitation rates.

There are differences between swamp buffalo and river buffalo. Swamp buffalo have swept back horns and are native to the eastern half of Asia from India to Taiwan. All are similar in general appearance. River buffalo generally have curved horns and are native to the western half of Asia.

One variable I didnt think of... How far away is your recharge. At 1.5 GPT, it could take a while to do the whole park.

This has the potential to be a quality thread that we rarely get with a little more info. I've noticed we've been getting a few more threads in this category. I see that as a great sign for the industry.

The easy math starts w/ A'. How big a sports field are we talking about? In sq' or acres. 1"/wk times (x)A's = A' of water/week An average football field is 1.25A's within the playing field. Call it 34Kgallons/week. Your water truck will haul ?????? Even if you can haul 5K gallons/tank........................
