The red chevrolet was starting to kill me. I couldnt back our dump trailer full of mulch up a driveway and it ended up losing me like $500 that was her last day on the job!
Now Im rolling in this...Still doesnt see much towing action but I know that when she gets the opportunity it wont let me down! I know its not a long bed, but it is a huge improvement from that "luxury" truck I was driving...That, and twin turbos kick a$$...Enjoy...
Enjoy your 10MPG with a DIESEL!:hammerhead:

Umm...I got 20 mpg on the way to the beach house last weekend, I am getting 16 mpg around town and about 11.5 pulling the trailer. Where did you get your numbers from? The 6.0 in my Chevy was much worse than that!
My buddy has a '09 F250 4x4 with the 6.4 in it and he averages 10.6 MPG city/highway.

The new 6.4 are getting bad fuel economy. A lot of folks around here that have purchased 08, and 09 models are not seeing better fuel economy until 30,000 plus miles. :nono:

I had a Bullydog Power Pup on my last Duramax and it was awesome. They really wake the truck up a lot. I am going to drive it now, stock and wait until I get bored with it...I really want a 5" filter back exhaust for it...it makes them sound mean!

A. Don't jynx it! lol
B. The delete will only get you better mpg's in regen mode, which only happens once a tank (on gm's). I Got 21 average with dpf, but with one regeneration it went down to 19.5. NOT worth your warranty or any legal stuff.
A friend of mine has a ford diesel and theres an actual light that says that its cleaning itself out but does it almost daily. I think thats why they have crappy mileage. GM's do it once on average per tankful for about 15 minutes of highway driving.

I had an extended cab short box with the 6.0 and got the same thing (6.5 or 7 if I was lucky), got rid of it and down sized to a half ton. One day I realized I used a quarter of a tank just running around town for an hour and I knew I had to get rid of it.

my 09 6.4L goes into regen once a tank as well. make sure you have the latest tsb updates they've worked alot of bugs out. i get about 20mpg highway, 16 mixed. not bad for a 350 crew cab long bed truck.
if you do strictly city driving, yes it could go into regen daily b/c you dont give it enough time to complete the cycle in one trip.
the vortec in our 2500hd gets 10 if we are lucky pulling our mowing trailer around town.

Great looking truck. I have an 08 350 plenty of power. Bad fuel mileage though. only 9.4 miles per gallon. also been in the shop numerous times. For a bunch of different things. Already had 2 radiators put in it. A new turbo, and a bunch of other stuff. only 39000 miles on it. I hope mine was just built on a Friday and yours has none of these problems good luck with it.

On the majority of the newer trucks, the economy reader is very accurate. Mines within a few tenths of the actually mileage.

I would say its most likely pretty accurate. My 01 F350 has it and its usually off by a lot im sure in 8 years they have got it down pat.

That's a total lie unless you have removed all of your emissions equipment. Which would mean you are illegally operating your truck.

wow youre not very smart huh? Newer trucks (07+) are very accurate. and no when these emission friendly trucks get more miles on them, they do get better mileage. You obviously dont own one, so how would you know? Im around these and the duramaxes alot, and can speak for it.

There is plenty of info available to show these trucks to not get 20 mpg in any way shape or form, except when driving over a cliff.

My point is that just because it says 50 mpgs on the overhead it does not mean you are actually getting 50 mpgs. They can be manipulated and are just plain wrong.

I am just going by what my AVG MPG says on the truck. After 2 hours at 70-75 it is reading a clear 20mpg average. Pulling the trailer all day it ends up at 11.5 or so and tooling around town it averaged 15.5 today. If this truck is lieing to me thats fine...Its making me feel good so I wont complain!

Man these Overhead computers are not totally accurate at all, this will cross brand loyalty. Dieselpower has done to many articles on this very topic over the years with conflicting reports always. The best, and most accurate method to calculate MPG is the OLD SCHOOL METHOD!!!!! buy hand, then compare to the overhead computer. GM & Dodge win the MPG awards, the D-max for the average diesel owner/operator will return the best MPG.

Keep us up to date on the truck. I'm a die hard 7.3 guy but for my next personal truck I will probably get a late model 06/07 6.0 or a 6.4, so I will be interested in seeing how everyone that has one likes them. If I get one it will be identical to your truck, white crew cab short bed, then hang a 8.5 ft Hiniker poly V on the front, custom headache rack and weatherguard box on the back and a B&W turnover ball in the bed and it'd be perfect for me. Good luck with it.

Oh, and on the trip computer thing, I dont doubt the new trucks are a lot more accurate. My 01 always reads 20-22.5, and I know the truck has never even gotten within throwing distance of that. When I first picked it up it read 13.5, which is a lot closer to actual, then I put my Edge box on it and the computer reading went through the roof. If nothing else it makes me feel a lot better, lol.
