Just wondering if anyone knows the going rate for State Roads and Interstate Right of Way Mowing. Just wondering what these companies get per mile, acre, or how ever its bid. Any ideas????

From what I know those would be, for the most part, State workers that mow those areas. I have never seen a private company doing those areas.

Here in Tennessee, the state uses private contractors. While i don't know what they make it has to be good.I drive a truck ltl freight local here, and noticed all the crews around here have brand new john deeres. While the state has all the equipment to do the job,go figure i sure can't.

it base on so much an acre..1) large type mowing 2) small type mowing 3) slope type mowing 4)Trash pickup 5) edging 6) sweeping...but now we are having to bid the total job per year.Meaning it can't be over so high or it needs to be cut. So now instead of 10 times a year it could be as much as 16 times per year all for the same total price.no per cut price any more.

Here in NC, I think the contract mowers make $80-$90 per highway mile, with variances like primary or secondary road. They make this price whether there is grass on the section they are mowing or not. I know one section of I-40, where there isn't a blade of grass to cut for 10 miles, and they still get the money. They lose out though, when they have to mow those big intersections. Some work is done here with ztr's, around flowered areas and some intersections, but that is done by the state. I think the last contract that i looked at was for $250,000, for two counties to be mowed 4 times a year, which usually takes them 3 weeks to mow each cycle.

around here it is all contracted out. It is a private company that uses toro z masters and bat wing mowers.
