8" natural Stone wall

Doing a project at my house, looking at using a 8" wall stone, about 2' high around a patio, then back filling with ca6 and sand and doing a stone patio inside. My question is What works well to hold the wall stone in place, I really prefer a drystack look but will mortar them if I need too ( well my brick layer will :)
any thoughts would be appreciated.

just use a little bit of type s on the back half of the stones so it will have the dry stack look, thats what we usually do on are natural stone walls. With srw blocks use a construction adhesive
