I'm looking for input on the Exmark Metro 26 commercial push. If you have any observations on handling, durability and serviceability I would certainly appreciate your comments. My son in law is in need of a mower and I have the opportunity to buy one that has only been demo'd at a price that is about half of retail. I have viewed the unit and it appears to be well built but is quite heavy. Mowing will involve a lot of "on the severe slope" mowing. I'd prefer a 2 stroke but the metro is equipped with pressurized oil system so that may not be to objectionable. Thanks for any response.

Sorry Dutch, But I'm not very familiar with the Exmark line.
But..... It sure looks like you have a grudge against your son-n-law !!!

The Exmark 26" has turned out to be a very good unit once they got all the bugs worked out. The early models were problematic so I would make sure you dont get anything earlier than a 2008 model. Also since you said it would be used on side hills it might be a little overweight to manuver well. You might want to stick with a 21 inch. If you have a lot of rocks I would stay away from the cast deck and get a steel deck like the Gravely or Honda

They are great mowers bulit like a brick... s-house, great cut, but a draw back is the fact it is heavy.
1/2 retail buy it

No grudges against my son in law, Restro, but he's the one who bought this hillside in Tennessee. If it were mine, I'd cover it with rock and paint it green.

The Metro 26 is a beast. Its heavy but it does steep hills very well and being self propelled with blade engagement separate makes it safe...at least when you have to back down steep hills. I would recommend it for commercial use...you shouldn't be disappointed.
If anyone has had experience changing the deck belt that would be helpful. I think mine was factory adjusted to tight and wore out but the book says nothing about how to replace it...which to me seems ridiculous. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey lewis it is easy, remove plastic pulley/hub guard. then loosen the belt guides and move them away from the belt they are attached with the motor mount bolts. the belt should then slip off with a little effort. replace the belt making sure it is inside the guides. re-tighten the guides in the same posistion they were in when you loosened them replace pulley/hub guard

Thanks stillwater. I knew it was simple I just took a glance before I had to leave and the book didn't have a diagram which I still find odd.
Do you have any expriance with the Exmark Lazer Z 60"?

If you search for threads in my name and exmark 26 you should find out all you need to know about heavy and under powered piece of garbage.
If I had been able to get a refund I would have taken it back.I was happy to sell it at a loss and hope god doesn't punish me for selling it to a poor fellow.

I dumped mine in two months. Laid tall grass over, lousy mulcher, and it would NOT pull itself up any hill without me pushing.

And you can forget cutting thick bermuda with it...even if you cut everyday...the only thing it did well was bag leaves.
Mine was actually burning oil after 3 months of use from the strain.
