Lucky I saw it move right before I stuck my hand in. Look right under the bend in the common.

In case you don't figure it out. If you look closely to its back you can see it is carrying babies.

I did terminate it shortly after the last pic was snapped, although I did let it get in sight of the property line and visions of its own freedom before dropping the boot. Poor little b@stard never had a chance!

Karma does not seem to apply down there; I'd be sleeping uneasily.

"Scorpions survive on various insects and small animals, such as rodents. At times, they also nourish on lizards and spiders. One of the most common diets of a scorpion is cricket. There are larger species of scorpions, which have been known to kill birds and various small animals. The zoologists have identified different types of scorpions and there are 1500 species of scorpions. Some scorpions feed on smaller breed of scorpions or on young scorpions." Who knew ? I have been stung three times no other sting has hurt that bad. But I whould have let her go:laugh:

This could be true. I off'd quite a few in the Sonoran Desert.

Fortunately, no scorps here, as of yet. Too cold I reckon?

I have two bull snakes in my front yard planters. I hate snakes, but am learning to live with these guys, even come to enjoy watching them sun themselves on my front steps. They keep rattlers away which makes my life easier with the dogs.

Had a confrontation with a cow elk the other day. Tried to step on one of my pooches down in the meadow in front of my place. Just calved, protective. B!TCH!

Man I am so looking forward to those kinds of problems. Can't wait to clean my first batch of bear sh@t off the driveway.

As long as the scat is shy of bells and doesn't smell like pepper spray, all is just fine :)

I just killed one of those at this vacation rental in scottsdale a couple of weeks ago, I was using a garden hose and disturbed it and it crawled up on the side of the house. This was after I spent some time pulling some weeds bare handed.
This property is out in remote desert and it is constantly treated for scorpions. I hate those suckers.

My oldest son's favorite campground in northern Arizona is Bear Canyon Lake and I tease him and say " Why do you think they call it Bear Canyon"

Black indeed. I had two sightings in the yard last year when it was REALLY dry and hot. Came to the river I assume. Hopefully the rain will keep them higher this year.

my son is a bear hunting guide.

talked to him tonite on the phone and he told me another hunter was batted around a bit this last week but not hurt too bad.

as far as interacting with a bear, i feel that they lack many social skills.

btw i took a 12" rattler out of a box last week. sorry i can't post pic's at this time.

:laugh:A Bear, taste like chicken don'tcha know
I heard they may be greasy and hard to cook?

Had one blackie [this year] rip the bird feeders to shreds and pounce on the recycling can. Fun to watch, but afraid of habituation.
just seen it one time though.

off to the stand now, hoping to bag some protein from a bean field butter ball buck today.
