i have a xxw2500 72" with 25hp kohler i didnt feel like doing the work

i took it to a small mower shop and they didnt know what hydro oil i needed.

so they called me lol and i think its like 10-50 or 15-40w but im not certain.

so i recommended that they call other mower shops and find out... so he

told me that he contacted a dixie dealer and they said to use 10w-40 motor

oil.!!!!!!! which doesnt seem right to me........ this is and old flatlander any one know if it is ok to run 10-w 40 in the hydros??

what should i change it to.????

My manual for a 28 EFI kohler, on a 60" supreme Mowchine, says lucas or amsoil 15w 40. I don't think you'll damage anything, but change it out asap, and change the filters, and you'll probably be OK. Dealer probably used what oil he had handy.:waving:

the guy at the lawn mower repair shop put the 10w40 in my hydros...

i took the mower to another shop now and he says that 10w40 is what they are using now...????

its just scary because u know.... wheel motors are like 800$ each lol and my dixie is old school SO THINK i should change it back to some heavy fluid? despite the fact that he says its OK?

May be splitting hairs here, in Fla, where the one poster is from, they probably use the heavy stuff, due to higher temps. In Mich, if I remember right, that is where you are posting from, they may go with a thinner oil, to keep it moving. I'd stick to what your local D.C. dealer says.:waving:
