I have a riding mower that is leaking oil into the crankcase. Now I know that the common cause of this is the needle not seating into the carb, but this starts my problem. It is a B&S engine. It has a fuel selinoid on the bottom of the carb. I do not know and can not figure out how to remove it to get the bowl off!!! I thought it would just turn out and be threaded in, but it turns freely. Can anyone help? I will supply the model and type if needed. Thanks in advance and sorry about the spelling. Model is 287707 Type 1036-E1. Appears o be a Walbro Carb

After finding a flat wrench that would fit, I was able to remove the fuel solenoid. Float checked out ok and the needle looks good. What else can I check? Any thoughts on what elso could cause gas to fill the crankcase when the engine is not running? It has always been the needle not seating! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take the fuel solenoid and plug it back into the engine harness, Turn the key on and off making sure the plunger still functions after spinning the outer case. You may have damaged the wires inside.

Clean the needle valve seat with a Q-tip sprayed with carb & choke cleaner then REPLACE the needle valve.

If new needle dont' fix it put a fuel shut off.......we got fed up with the carb leaking on Kohler units and shut them off every time we stop the mower.

+1 Been there done that, works wonders what one little shut-off valve will do :)
