I worked so hard and can finally put a down payment on an Exmark 2008 Rider.
Brand new 2008 Exmark Lazer HP 52 inch 27 HP Kohler, 3 year warranty. Retail was $7,550 but would sell it to me for $7,100. Seems like a lot. Mower looks just like the big boys like the 60 inch. Thing is quick and has the better deck(ultra cut or something. 27HP on a 52 and has big a** tires so the grass will look good cut. The mower is Fuel injected.
Can I try and talk him down more?? They don't have a hard time selling these bec they deal with the state or town workers and the big shot guys.
My lawns are about 1/2 and some are almost a full acre. Have knee problems with my walker and takes an hour or two just to mow.
The 60 inch they have has the triton deck which I heard had problems and they are $8,000 +

2008, is it a left-over from last year? My Exmark dealer is really slashing the prices on most '08 models to make room for the redesigned '09's. Plus we're almost in mid-season and from what I hear sales are off this year. Beat'em down!

It might be a 28HP. How much are they brand new?? I can't keep the demo they had to get it and I feel in love with it they would have to ship one. The one I saw never went on the demo floor it sat in there little warehouse garage and when the guy started it it blew smoke for about a min is that normal for a new mower?? My exmark walker has around 4,000 hours and runs like virgin & never blew smoke.

I don't think that's too bad. I bought my Toro 52" ZTR about 2 1/2 years ago for about $7500. So I think you're doing okay. I honestly would say to try and talk him down a bit though. It couldn't hurt.

I haven't priced the HP new but it sounds like it's in the ballpark. (I only use the standard Lazer) As far as it blowing smoke, that may be normal since it has been sitting but it probably shouldn't happen once you start using it routinely. Did you test drive a 60"? Sounds like you could use it.

If it is the 28 hp, you will like it, I have about 600 hours on my Dixie Chopper with the 28 HP EFI, love that motor! It is prone to lifter bleed out, if it has been sitting for a while, might be your smoking problem, takes 15-20 minutes if its real cold, to pump the lifters up, and start running smooth. Don't know if its pertinent to your situation or not, but ask your dealer to tell you how to restart the mower (prime it) if you run out of gas!Thumbs Up
