Usually .105 And in the Echo srm2100 we run that .135 I beleive is what it is....some fat line its great only have to tap the head maybe every few minutes. We will use the .135 for Brush trimming.

Gees, I don't seem to use anything everyone else does. Oh well. I don't run a guard and use a tanaka autohead, which automatically keeps the string at the correct length. I run a 22" inch diameter string length, and .065 string.
For me the heavy string starts to blow the grass over as you weedwhack, and that doesn't let you rest the head on the ground and drag it over it. Also, the larger string tears the grass instead of cutting it and leaves it brown the next day.
However, most guy's that I see weekwhack don't weedwhack, they just hack away, or do the burn the grass to the dirt.

I'm a .095 man from wayyyy back- I've tried them all- gator, titanium, star, triangle, square, octagonal, round, "beaded", teflon, chain, rapid, fixed, bump, manual, etc. the shaped, .095 ecHo seems to work best and weld the least. dip in water weekly on your 5lb spool. on a separate note, does anyone remember the FRENCH booth that had the 2000lb spool of .095 line at the louisville expo in 2001? .095 buy it at Wal Mart, the local mower shop, the Redmax brand, it all cuts grass and weeds.
For serious weed cutting I use .105 and run a single line. You get some vibrations, but good engine RPM, and weeds get cut.

Switchless I don't have a problem with the larger line turning the grass brown like you meantioned. I run a good head of steam on the motor and keep the string spining, that cuts things off pretty good.

.095, whatever brand is available. I like the suggestions on soaking in water, I heard it here before but have yet to try it.

Thanks all.

I just put a fast loading Echo head on my Maryuama. I run .130 line and it LASTS unless I have to trim around a chainlink fence.

.095 square gator line is the best, it has metal in it, and lasts the longest. Don't even try that husky titanium crap

.080 Round Gator line. You can run a longer line than .095 and it gives a smoother cut.

.095 works the best for me. I use only round line since I have found through experience that square or any odd shaped line tends to wear out the eyelets on the trimmer head.

Golden words!!!!

I started doing the same thing. I bought the rapid loader, Put two strings of 155 line, and the SAME line lasted me the WHOLE day, I even had 2 new accounts were EXTRA edging and weeding was necessary.

And 155 does make a nice THICK edge.

Changing trimmer line is nothing but, 23 seconds.

I have been using .095 Echo Crossfire but I am not that pleased with it. The only problem is that I bought a ton of it and need to use it up and will trying something else.

I started using Echo crossifre .105, in my 26cc Echo bump head.
Since it was stolen and I had to start over this year, all I could afford was a rebuilt 20cc Echo curved shaft, with a rapid loader, so I used .130 in that.

Personally, I don't like the rapid loader, because I hate having to stop and change the line. Even with .130 I find myself having to change the line quite frequently. Plus, I have to stop and cut all those damn pieces. I don't think it saves time, and I can't wait till I replace it with another SRM 260 and bump head (My curved shaft lacks the power and torque to run a bump head).

We use .080 - thinner - can wrap more feet of line on a trimmer head, and it cuts better.
