No Gears on my Toro GTS5 21" walk behind mower

I have a Toro Gts5 6 hp Walk behind rear bagger mower that when you put it in gear nothing happens. Model # 20489. Do you think that the pinion gear has stripped out, part # 60-8890. This is my guess. Please can anyone give me some suggestions on what to look for!!! The belt seems loose but is still working. Is there a tensioned device on this mower?

First, There was no need in starting two threads. You could have added extra info to the other one.


Standing at the handle look at the drive control cable mounting area, You will see the cable mounted with two nuts. Loosen the nut closest to you and tighten the nut away from you, This will move the cable housing and put more tension on the belt when the control handle is depressed.

The belt must be tight for this drive system to function properly, If you run out of cable adjustment before you get proper tension on the belt replace the belt.
