Dull colored, thin areas in zoysia.. Aeration?

I've had great luck applying a generous fert to bermuda, and then aerovating it.. breaking up zhizoms, and the thatch seem to really make it go nuts.. filling in bare areas, and greeing up immensely.

Will the same trick work on Zoysia?

Sure, Zoysia takes real well to my edge bedding areas.

That will work on zoysia as well. So will mowing it weekly at 1/2-3/4" every week with a reel mower. In my area, zoysia cut high with a rotary looks bad, with lots of thatch and dead stems.
