I agree, the Stihl FC85 is one bad dude.

I got the FS 85RT, with edger, and hedge trimmer attachment.

I've used the edger, works great...

Plus, I can always add more attachments and use it for all sorts of fun things!

I have the FC75, which has been very solid for me. It appears the only major difference between the 75 and 85 is the 75 has a curved shaft and the 85 has a straight one. I've never used the 85.

Tell me, if anyone knows, what's preferrable about the FC85? When making my next edger purchase (which might not be too far off) should I inquire about the FC85 or stick with the stick I know?

The 85 has an open blade design which is supposed to prevent clogging. The other Sthils have a cover over the blade. The 85 is also a solid steel drive shaft.
