Need help figuring two jobs involving rock/top soil.

I need some help on how much to order for these two jobs and have not done enough of these to be real comfortable yet.

First job is putting rocks in a flower bed. The bed is 100 feet long, 20 feet wide and the rocks need to be approx. two inches deep.

The second job requires good dirt hauled in. It is 45 feet long and ten feet wide. The dirt will have to be three inches deep.

Any advice on how to figure this would be appreciated. I am trying to broaden my horizen instead of just lawn and shrub care and get into bigger jobs. But also learned long ago if you don't know how to figure it leave it be!

100' X 20' = 2000 sq ft. ... Divide the 2000 ft by 6 (2inches) to get your cubic feet.
Divide cu ft by 27 to get cubic yard...

45' X 10' = 450 sq ft. ... Divide by 4 (3 inches) to get cubic ft.
Again divide your cu ft by 27 to get cubic yard.

Different landscape rocks range in coverage, but I generally figure 100- 130 square feet per ton of rock at 2 inches deep.

It always helps to have your grade perfect too, so you don't get areas that are too deep, and areas that are too thin.

Agreed some rock is differant coverages but for most 1-1 1/2" rock we figure it as 75 sq ft per ton. It is a little on the high side but alot of yards around us dont way you out they just say there skid bucket it x amount of ton/s.
We figure better to have to much than to little.
