Hi guys a few weeks ago an employee of mine let me know that there was a possible lawn account avaliable and gave me all the information about the place.{They were looking for someone else because the other company was destroying the place} Anyway we landed the account basicaly because of him. Should he get some compensation for the finding the place and getting all the information? IF yes what would you give him Thanks AJS

AJS,
Personally I would compensate him something maybe $50! It shows that he is also looking out for your company. Not only will it help you out but, it also helps him out with more work. Heck, maybe one day he could be out getting new accounts so you can enjoy the benefits of your company!!!

The way we did it was for anyone who would inform us of an account and i could confirm it for a year, they would get the first 2 mows. Take care of the ones who take care of you.

Yes you should definately reward him! $50 to $100 seems fair depending on the size of the contract. Set it up so he gets a bonus for every new account!

You could give them a little extra $$$$ at Christmas time. It would come in handy so he could buy his family something nice. Wouldn't hurt to tell all employees that loyalty in finding jobs will be rewarded.

Yea give him a 200.00 or 300.00 bonus NOW(not Christmas), since its just a big contract.

Normally on residential home 50.00 would be great.

our rule is that any weekly contract an employee brings in they get the 1st cut.

one employee brought in a large appartment complex, neting himself 1600.00

Oh yes then definately and it should be a good bonus. And do it now so the reward is immediate. Not at Christmas.

these are good ideas. Definitely compensate him. He didn't have to do it and it will push him to keep getting you work.

I have thought of a compensation plan that paid the worker a smaller "tip" up front and then a larger amount later in the year.(An amount reflective of the total revenue the new account generated)
