is this a real plow?
I have never seen this type of setup before, only chain type trenchers...

That'll get you there.

Easy Boots.... most residential lots in Canada are substantially smaller than in the USA. A 255 is too big for 90% of the lots around here. The 100sx is probably used by 90% of residential contractors in my area, the other 10% are scabs and just hand dig trenches.
To the OP...in Calgary, that price for that machine would be a major steal. The odd shop that rents them around here are about $200/day so you can do the math.
OP: Where in BC are you? What are other contractors using?

$3500 for a 10-year-old 100sx doesn't seem the greatest deal ever.

why are you selling it and how does it compare to a 100 dw plow.

They are probably using the mini-ex for a reason.... you may want to rethink your strategy.

A V252 has to be ancient.

There is no irr. cont. in our area thats why mini excavators have been the choice. Our ground can be sand, clay or 4 to 8 inch rock mixed with sand.ln your opinion would it be better to start with a dw 100plow at a reasonable price and work my way up to 255 dw plow if my business warrants it or should l bite the bullet and look for 255 dw and skip the dw 100 plow. Keep in mind lm dealing with small residental installs, maybe 15 jobs a year.the rest of my income comes from repairs ,start ups ,blow outs and my other half of my business.l live in a small town you have to have to have your hands in a lot of differen't areas.only advantage no competition.

If you are only doing 15 small yards a year, a 255 is overkill. What kind of lot sizes are you dealing with?
I'd certainly be more inclined to go with the 100sx. It's at a nice price point and can pay for itself quickly.

If your soil is compatible with the little plow, then you could use it.
