Looking for ideas to remedy a Hunter PGP that will not rotate. It will pop-up and spray water but will not rotate side to side. I have tried to make an adjustments with no effect.

Am I looking at buying a replacement head?

Thanks....

The gears have failed or are stripped beyond repair. Leave the can, replace the body.

Maybe a local semantic??? Around here the can and the body are the same thing..... the outside shell. When we replace the insides it's aka "guts".

Its probably got some trash in it unless someone has stripped the gears. The PGP is pretty much bulletproof. Usually by the time you take it out, let it roll around in back of your truck and take it back the thing will be good again.

yep, called can and guts around here. Sometimes just the guts swap can leave a seal leaking thou. But I still always try first.

Seriously though, whats a PGP cost - $7.90? Whats your time worth? We hardly ever even change out seals anymore, once the riser is scratched at wears out the seals it is going to wear out the new ones even faster.

I prefer to replace the entire head, if it can be neatly accomplished. Less work.

I prefer to replace them with 5004's.

Replace like with like, sez me. Switch 'em out like light bulbs.

One of the smarter things RB did was to use the same body as the T-Bird when they went to the 5000 series; makes a change-out nice and quick.

Why? The PGP is a proven head. The distribution uniformity is great for such a low priced rotor. The rain curtain technology is bs if you ask me, it looks pretty but the distribution uniformity ain't there.

Funny how many homeowners will ask about nozzle spread, if they've seen some Rain Curtain nozzles.

I do like the MPR nozzles; enables you to use fulls and halfs, etc. on the same zone. It's a pain to install the nozzles, though.

Yup, I like the pattern better on the MPR nozzles, though.
