View Full Version : Rainbird 3500 rotors - worn out?

I've got 6 3500 rotors in my setup. It's about two years old now. I run them just before daylight, so I don't get much time watching them run. I ran a valve test the other day and noticed that four or five of my 3500's weren't rotating. I pulled the rubber caps and sprayed them out with water and also worked the adjustment screws back and forth. I was able to revive a couple of them but the other three aren't going to cooperate. I know the easy answer is just to replace them. I didn't know if there was a way to adjust the left stop position and run the rotor in a new section of the rotating gears or something. I don't like to trash stuff unless it's not worth fixing.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Trash 'em - maybe install something better in their place.

Any suggestions?

You should have gotten more mileage than that out of them. We've had problems with both RB and Hunter medium-range rotors, but never a failure like you've had. Are you on well water?

I'd add the fittings needed to go with standard 3/4-inch FPT rotors like a PGP or 5004.

Trouble with those dweeb medium range heads, is it's hard to see if they're rotating correctly half the time; they are slow and the spray is small.

I replaced 7 3500s on one zone last week. Changed to 5004s. Wipers seals were leaking so much the heads would not come up to full pressure. Had lots of problems with the 3500s. I won't even stock them.

Agree with Mike, you should have gotten more out of them than two years.

5004 is the place to be. Go for the MPR noozles.
