View Full Version : Backpack Blowers
Can I get a backpack blower for under $300.00? If so, what's the best make and model number?
Thanks,

Sure you can. It's going to be junk but you can get it. Whatever you decide to buy, make sure you look at the label. If it says made in America stay away from it. If it ain't a honda it is junk.
Sad but true. Only the less informed would even buy a America made truck.

For another $100 bucks, you can get a Stihl....I've used my BR400 for 4 years, 5 days a week, including winter, and it still looks and runs like new...

I've got a brochure that advertises the Stihl Br-420 for $399.
I got my Echo PB-650 for $450. Best decision I've made in a while.

save your money and buy a new red max .
Try the Shindaiwa eb630 its a few lbs lighter than the redmax an just as much power. Marks Mowing Service Better yet do a search and read a few hours on the different brands.

Sthil BR320 sells for 299.00 here. I think it has been replaced with the new model (340), but its basically the same machine. I like mine, but I don't need a blower as much as some. I basically use it blow the driveway's and such.

Stihl BR420C blower would be an excellent choice.
I would also suggest to spend a little extra and get the stihl br420. You will be glad you did if you deal with many leaves.

Go for a Remax, you can't go wrong there. I haven't tried the other brands mentioned, but have had very good luck with the Redmax. Another thing when buying, get as much MPH and CFM as you can afford. Trust me.
It is very strong, if you grab the throttle and you aren't ready for it, it will push you around.
I bought mine used for $399, barely used that is. Still looked new.

Remax.... Takes a beating again and again and again, keeps on blowing!
p.s. 5 years and they still start no later than the second pull even after sitting for 4-5 months in the winter!

$450 isn't a lot of money, it's helped me tremendously. You don't have to be a gigantic LCO to buy a nice blower....

go with the new echo 650, it is awesome, I have had a few from when they first came out, still run like new. We also run Redmax and Shindaiwa as well, but you just can't beat the echo...

I just bought a Husqvarna for $299.00. It is the 145 model. Works pretty good for me.
ditto on the echo 650, it has insane power.
Very nice blower. Plenty of power. Highly recommended. Save your money and buy the best.

I have a BR400 but wish I had a Redmax. My BR400 does a good job but does not start as quickly as I would like it to...always starts but only after three or four pulls on the rope. My Redmax trimmer starts on first or second pull everytime. BR400 would start better if it had a primer bulb like the Redmax.

I just picked up a Shindaiwa EB630 today for $479. I am definitedly impressed with the power of it. A bit thirsty though. No Red Max dealers around here and my dealer recommended it over the Stihl BR420, although he says that's a fine machine too (and cheaper).
I'm throwing away my rakes!
br340 does great i paid $289

Shindiawa 630 is the way to go. I have both the Red max and Shin, both are about the same but the stiff control arm on the Red Max is a PITA when it gets wraped around the strap. Both put the Sthil to shame.
