Do you mean interchangeable to pruner or hedgecutter etc.?

if you do id say yes

stihl and ryobi both do good interchangebales with a range of attachment like hedge cutter, blower, edger, pruner etc.

Go with Stihl trust me. I've been through three Roybi's in the last two years, I will say though that the Ryobi BC30 (brush cutter) is a decent trimmer, at 30cc's it's powerful enough to handle most of what you need to do.

What I would do is go with a Stihl Kombi system, but get you attachments from Lowes (the articulating hedge trimmer) and Home depot (tiller, trimmer head (switch to the conventional bump head instead of that pre-cut line head), and brush cutter). I got my articulating hedge trimmer at lowes for $100 when I got my first ryobi free from a client, Stihl wants $230 for the same thing. Same attachments less cost.

Ive had the stihl kombi for years. First off the added weight is not worth keeping it for a main trimmer. However I have power broom, hedge trimmer, pole pruner, brush cutter attachments, and 3 extensions. That machine has paid for itself over many times. Heck the power broom alone makes about 4000 each spring just cleaning gravel off the curbs, and the ability to trim a 20 foot hedge with both feet on the ground is priceless.

ryobi attachments won't fit a Kombi. I own both, the ryobi sits in my garage waiting for a yard sale. the stihl KM90 is an awesome machine for the money.

With all due respect sir, they do work on the Kombi.

They have a solid, square shaped drive shaft just like Stihl's and the tube diameters are more or less the same. I think your problem is that the drive shafts aren't going all the way into the coupler so that the tube doesn't seat in all the way. If that is the problem then what you do is guide the drive shaft into the coupler with a small flat head screw driver or about a 2" piece of .095 trimmer line through the gap in the quick change under the tightening knob (where the attachment is inserted into) to get the shaft over the hole. Then it should slide right in. If the tube is tight then sand some of the paint off or put grease on it. What I may do in the future is to take quick change off and cut those two metal loops off because that's what makes it hard for the drive shaft to go into the hole sometimes. Give it a shot it should work for you.

I have a KM 90 as well and have been using all my listed attachments (except the tiller, plants in the garden are to small to cultivate yet and it's been raining here for a few days) since the 14th with no problems. When I bought it I brought an attachment with me to the dealer and they were surprised that it worked on the Kombi, I demoed mine before I bought it and it ran the trimmer head just fine. When I got it home I hooked up every attachment and they all worked fine.

I mean no disrespect.

Here's a guy that runs the same articulating hedge trimmer that I do.
