Nice looking rig. Are those Hankook tires on the truck?

Thanks, yea, it's a firestick... the truck is a 1996 and it has 310,000 miles on it. The Engine is original so that just says....it's a Chevy/GMC!!

bet the transmission isnt original. haha. sharp truck, i had one and so did my buddy, awesome engine, but chevy transmissions are the dumps. haha.
nice setup, i've been debatin the lazer for a while. i just cant see it bein better than my 60 walk behind.
How do you like the kohler engine? I just bought my first one at the beginning of the season, and i'm not sure how i feel about it, it seems like my kawasaki's are more reliable.
I just turned 18, so your right there with me, great lookin setup!
just FYI you may wanna look into a license plate for the trailer, i dont know about the laws in LA, but they hassle us around here. I was told if you are advertising from your truck or trailer, you must have a commercial tag on the truck and a plate on the trailer, someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

I have always heard good things about a kohler. Of course everyone has their own opinions so you just have to base it off of personal experience. I only have 20 hours on machine so can't really tell you if I like it quite yet or what.

Yea, I have a license plate on trailer and LA really dont care about advertisement on truck. My state is really laid back and don't really care about too much of the minor things. Thats prob why Louisiana has the worst roads in the U.S.

God your lucky i purchased a 96 from one of my local gm dealer here two years ago but about three months after having it i had to replace the engine at only 67,000 miles. And so im just saying your lucky to get that thing up to 310,000. But otherwise the equitment looks great. Good luck

i've seen your ads on craigslist
are you licensed and insured?
CowboysLawnCare
07-07-2009, 08:55 PM
Nope, I'm getting insured next year, kinda started late this year. As far as liscensed goes, that is $500-$600 to get LLC. And you got to pay taxes on everything. I don't think it is worth it yet. Insurance is $300 a year so i will go for that. So how many accounts do you have and where do you cut at? I have a couple of commercial accounts but they don't require license and insurance.

You cant stop my ole truck now. It pulls a 18ft lawn trailer everyday so its gotta be in good shape even though i only get 9 miles to the gallon.

Well I only have about 15 res and 2 comm. This is the first year by myself and on this site so I am still learning. As soon as I am done with school, I'm ready to go big or go home. I cut grass, work at a chicken hut, go to school, and rodeo so kinda short on time.

i live in jefferson terrace so i have about 4 here,2 in drusilla, 2 more on the other side of bluebonnet, another one by the mall and 1 commercial in airline but i know the guy. I'm not insured, i have 8 or 9 that i do regularly, and 2 or 3 that i do ocassionally. i started from scratch in march with the money i had saved up. As time went by i got better equipment and a bigger truck, now im saving up for an enclosed trailer. its a pain to put the trailer in the shed after every lawn. i have a 5x8 trailer so the push mower has to go in the bed of the truck. i have a pressure washer but i havent done any jobs with it. i also plan on detailing cars, and going to people's houses and work places to detail them but idk. we'll see

Yea bud you sound like me, do anything to make money. This being your first year on your own you won't have too much to do. This is also my first year with my own business. You just have to advertise and get your name out there and you will get some calls. I just ordered 500 business cards and 1000 postcards to help with that.

A little place called Watson but nobody really knows where that it. I have to say Denham Springs and sometimes that don't work. So in other words, outside of Baton Rouge.

I am so glad you young guns are on here. Your right it doesn't make sense to get insurance and actually go legal or anything. I think you should start selling fertilizer and pesticides also. Hell, start laying house foundations, block, and slabs also. Better yet you can even start installing irrigation also, no need to know what your actually doing.
All that being said...I wish you the best of luck. Nice mower and a good start for a young man with ambition.
So is that your dads tractor?

Yea, this was a project that I had to do for school. I chose to do landscaping because this is something I want to really excell at in the future. Yes, I chose the cheap, small plants in order to save money... yall know how it is kind of tough in the winter time. I did learn that I dug the edge way too deep and had to go back with some rock to eliminate the mulch from running off of the bed. Thanks for the compliments and advise.

i never understood why new guys always have more riders than walk behinds and also why some one would buy a 48" rider. why not a 48" wb
i started with a 52" scag wb and i dont have the need for a rider.

Here are some pics of my equipment. The first 2 are from earlier this season. The last 3 are from today. I got rid of that ole' Cub Cadet rider and bought a Exmark 36" walkbehind about a month ago for $500. I bought the Gravely 21'' walkbehind yesterday. I have upgraded to all Shindaiwa handhelds. 2 blowers. I took the basket off the front to make more room. The pole saw is awesome for the tree trimming jobs! I have more stuff laying around but this is what is with me everyday with the exception of the pole saw.

Honestly, Dealers don't sell walk behinds around here. Where I live there is a good bit of grass to cut compared to some places. The dealers have told me that the reason they don't sell them is because that some Z's cost the same and alot easier and less painfull to use. Plus, we are pretty lazy around here. Also,I bought a 48" because I wanted to buy a lawnmower that would fit into most back gates.

I agree. I can be just as productive with a walkbehind(with a better cut I might add). I am looking at buying a guy out, and I told him i would probably trade his super z for a 60 inch turf tracer. He looked at me like I was outside of my mind lol. You have a nice setup though. I think that flower bed looks good. How is that truck doing lol? You have some nice equipment. I am thinking about switching over to exmark's myself due to the terrible dealer support I get for my gravelys, but for now I love that 21 lol. Keep up the good work.

Thank you... yea the truck is up to 323,000 lol. I'm just trying to get a diesel cause the gas mileage sucks. I have never owned a gravely before. The reason I bought it is because it is the only shop around here that has a "commercial" 21" mower. So far so good. Only thing is that I figured for that amount of money you could adjust the throttle on the fly or something. It seems like it just has too low of RPMs.
