Do you guys think it is unprofessional to use a lawn tractor to mow accounts with instead of a ZTR? What I have right now is a 36" walk behind and I have some lawns that I could bust out with a larger mower. Well I'm a cash in hand kind of guy and don't want to finance a ZTR, but I just had a Craftsman 42" tractor given to me. It has a bagger and cyclone rake that I was going to use in the fall, but would this make me more efficient mowing as well or just make me look like a assclown.

I use a John Deere Lx172 that is almost as old as I am and it leaves a great cut and stripes great. It's not the equipment that makes a professional, it's the operator. A craftsman may be seen as unprofessional, personally i would rather use a push mower on a 100 degree day than a crapsman rider. If I where in your shoes I would keep the cyclone rake and trade the craftsman rider in on a better mower. You may and probably won't get alot for it, but it would help ease the hurt of a new mower. Trade it in on a bigger walk behind (new or used) or a used ZTR. My next mower will be a lawn tractor ( possibly a JD X500 or X700) A ZTR just dosen't fit my operation, but a smaller wb might.

The only problem with lawn tractors is they're slow slow slow. besides the other issues like decks that bend or crush easily.

I cut my own grass with a JD 318 and have been for years. but on the job it's ZTRs all the way. I'd go broke having to compete against ZTRs in this market. Time = money

I really have my heart set on a ZTR, but I've been chasing my 36" WB for three years now and sitting sure does sound good.

What about a toro grand stand, wright, or ferris evolution

I started out with a 42 craftsman (5-6 yrs ago)then I bought my first z 3yrs ago and another one last year

Got a bagger system for the tractor and it worked fine until last year
When I was doing this part time and didnt know any better the tractor worked fine

Last year I bought a dedicated bunton bagger and totally retired the tractor over to my place at the lake
But now when I go to the lake I grab a z so the tractor just sits

If your looking at it as a time saver then see if it saves you time on your own yard vs using your 36

If it saves you time use it

I have an old 40" lawn tractor that I use for towing a spreader around.

Saves wear on me and easier to use. If it breaks, throw it away or duct tape it.

I started out with a 18hp craftsman tractor, 42" cut, nobody ever complained, but
it didn't take me long to get a ztr LOL..

It was just toooooo slow..
