Here she is, the fungus has made the mulch very hard. I haven't run into this before. It has spread over around a 15' diameter area. Any info you guys can throw at me is appreciated!

Found some info but not sure if its what you have in that bed but could be.
Slime molds or "dog vomit" fungus are brightly colored (yellow, orange, etc.) slimy masses that are several inches to more than a foot across. These molds dry out and turn brown, eventually appearing as a white, powdery mass. These fungi feed on bacteria growing in the mulch. If their appearance is offensive, discard the slime mold in a compost pile, household garbage, or a spot in the yard away from existing mulch.

I think it is Slime mold. We had a really bad problem with it last year but not so bad this year. Bright yellow the first day and jelly like. Not harmful to humans or pets. The mulch company said that the mulch is getting sold so fast that it doesn't have time to cure at the mulch yard. So it is doing it in the customers yards. Very unsightly! in dyed mulch. Glad to see we are not the only ones with problems:laugh: A shot of vinegar in a sprayer will speed the clearing process.

Thanks guys, we have never had this problem before we put down a few thousands yards of died mulch each year.
i guess we can just pull it up and install fresh with no danger of spreading or effecting plants then.
Thanks again!

BTW Prez, I must have past just past where you are on Tuesday, picked up a new tuck in Gainsville, GA took 85 on through! If I had a bit more time I would have looked you up. Would love to check out your operation. Awesome area, some of the bridge over passes on 85 had some AWESOME landscaping. I am surprised the states put that kind of money into them! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any pics.

Yea, some intersections are pretty nice. The State lines are usually the best. If you where on 85 you passed within a mile of the house.
