Hey guys, before I get started, I want you to know that I did NOT buy these trimmers new. I got really good deals on them used, and I do know that they aren't in the commercial series. So please no replies saying "Dude, buy a new commercial trimmer".

Ok, here goes. I have 2 Stihl string trimmers. One is a FS44 straight shaft and the other is a FS36 curved. I bought the FS36 quite awhile ago, and pretty much right after I bought it, it pooped out. I bought the FS44 earlier this year. Same thing. I didn't even run a full head of string through it, only a few tanks of gas.

On both of them, I adjusted the High and Low screws on the carb, to no avail. I also adjusted the big screw, which I assume is the mixture screw. No luck.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Any suggestions? Rob? It's kind of puzzling to me. BTW, I know that they both have had new spark plugs and new gas, so that's not part of the problem.

They could be worn out you know. The previous owner putting thick oil through the plug hole to give some compression before selling it :nono:.

A compression check would reveal the true state of these, but it's hardly worth doing. Get a new FS80, you can mess with them when you'll have the time.
