I was wondering if any you guys can offer some advise on how to keep a flower bed that has pine straw in it as a mulch free from debris when trimming shrubs or hedges.

Most of my customers that have beds have hardwood mulch. Unless the mulch is new, I can usually rake the shrub clippings out. I have one that has pine needles and I use a small tarp around the shrubs. It's a pain and be sure to figure the extra time it takes when charging.

Seriously though: Just buy one or two of the cheapest 5x6 plastic tarps. Put one on each side of the bush and overlap a little.

6x8, ALWAYS a 6x8. In fact, thats the only size I keep in my truck. Especially for trimming bushes.

used burlap sacks work as well....put one on each side and somewhat under shrub....usually takes 4 per shrub depending on size
