Got a great deal on this Ferris 52" 2000z/25hp Kaw. It's an '08 model, but only had 2.5 hrs. on it. Full warranty as it was the dealers demo/personal unit.

Looks new to me. I'd say you have chosen wisely. Enjoy the "smooth" sailing yet to come

It's supposedly the smoothest rider in the ferris fleet.

The wooden trailer in the background, what's it for?

It's very smooth. I haven't even adjusted the shocks yet, which are adjustable for body weight.

The trailer is my trash trailer.....

Funny how everyone notices the items in the back ground of photo's.....

Might I ask how much it was out the door? Will you write a little review on how it works. Also on how well it is on the hills/slopes... Many thanks if you do!

Here's the thread when I started looking........ http://www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?t=280116

Copied my mini review below........

Finished cutting this morning. Man, I am really pleased with this unit!!

Handling: Great, sticks are a bit sensitive, but I'm starting to get use to them. Kinda jumpy in tight situations, but I'm learning to take it real slow with them. Turns are really great and very tight. Tore up some ground at first, but now I can zero turn it quick without any damage.

Ride: As advertised. The independent suspension in this thing is awesome. My front is fairly bumpy, and I drive it and cut full out for the most part. You can feel it in your feet, but I don't think the seat has bottomed out but a couple of times on really bad bumps.

Power: My grass was pretty low and I didn't cut much off, but it seems adequate. It will run every bit of the 10mph advertised.

Cut: Excellent. Very even and smooth, even with my bumps. Says it will only cut down to 1.75", but thats no true. Maybe that's just the new specs for the '09. I cut mine down to about an inch as it was already pretty short to start with. Had no problem with the deck hitting or scraping. You can get a golf course fairway look with this mower. Discharges great, and spreads out the clippings nicely.

I cut my 4 acres or so in about 1.5 hours, and that's for a first timer on a zero turn, so I'm sure that will improve. 52" cut is just right on my property and it's very easy to get around all my pine trees. Really glad I didn't get the 61", plus I can trailer it to my camp on my 5' ATV trailer.

Summary: Jury is still out. Grass isn't very thick right now with the lack of rain in our area (None in 22 days now). Anyone in the J'son, Ms. area that wants to demo this ride, come on out!! Wife loved it as well, but I'm not sure I trust her on it. She would probably end up in the lake.

We still have a long cutting season left (through Nov.) so I will have plenty of time to gather more information.

Two big thumbs up for now!!

Might I ask how much it was out the door?

The new ones list for around $9300 or so......I was quoted $8800 for a new model. But get this, they are discounting the 61" to $8300.........

Anyway, mine is an '08 and I walked out the door paying 7K.........Dealer quoted me OTD prices, but failed to mention this one was not OTD when he quoted me 6900. We had a nice discussion, and settled on 7K tax and all.......only 2.5 hours on it.

I'm somewhat jealous. I think the is 2000z will be my next mower, that is if it bags and mulches well. Time will tell with that and if I can find a dealer near by and a lightly used/demo for sale.

I don't bag or mulch.........no need to.

Check around and shop out a Ferris. The prices aren't nearly as high as the MSRP........

Good luck.

A toro salesman made a good point to me one time that the spring ride will make nose dives to the left or right when turning in that direction because of the weight shifting etc and scalping the lawn is that true?

If you go to ferris's website you can watch a video clip of the suspension system. As you will see, the frame rails that are attached to the front suspension and stay rigid with the wheel and is the mounting point for the deck.... Doesn't look like it would dip into turns to me.

Nope.......(read more and post less)

Why is it that some folks just must try and put down a superior product??

Hey, I looked at them all.........this was the best for me, and I'm happy.

Hope you like it!! I love mine! only downside is tall grass like Bahia and weeds are tough on it. I am getting ready to try hi-lifts. Mine does not scalp either. They're designed not to. The suspension is not as sensitive as a vehicle or ATV.

Nice! I bought the IS1500z last year and have been very happy with it. I like the ride (smooths out the bumps really well!) I hear the ride of the 2000 is even better.

You'll get use to the steering. I thought mine was twitchy at first as well.

It's only a good point if its true...

That Toro salesman is full of crap! Of course he will tell you that. He wants you to buy a Toro! :dizzy:

No, this is not true, and I really have a hard time understanding why people say things to degrade one mower in attempt to sell another, especially when there is no proof involved.

I can tell you from facts through experience the IS 2000 with the 61" deck cuts level and smooth as does the IS 3100 with the 72" deck. Very good ride with the best going to the 3100 because of extra weight. The 72" deck does no dipping or scalping that I saw anywhere, and I put it in many various cutting situations. Go back to the Toro salesman and tell him there is no truth in what he is saying. Tell if he needs to lower himself into speaking untruths about specific brands of mowers in attempt to sell his mowers he should find another line of work. Better than that, print this, and take it to him, I would love to hear his response.

I have no affiliation with Ferris in any way shape or form, I have been running Hustler Super Z's for years. I speak the exact truth as to the way I experience it or find out from in-depth research, if I can't back it up, I will apologize for my mistake.
