A small mulch job. You can see part of 2 sections on one building in these pics. There were 4 sections per building and Two buildings

its ok though if i would have touched it the mom would have probably abandoned it. I think she was killed though because ive seen him 2 other times and he seems unafraid of humans for the most part.

One of my favorite accounts. Stripes are awsome but you cant see them in the picture because there is too much sun coming into the lens. The camera removes it but you still cant see the stripes and i was too lazy to walk down to the other end lol. Its a large yard but i love her tree row set up and the layout of her whole place. Also left tire was about a pound low on air so it tracked alot :(

This is yesterday. I got 9 scoops of dirt. 6 in the truck 3 on the trailer. Lol im getting either a dodge 3500 or 4500 dump truck in the fall. Havent decided yet. The engine had no problem at all pulling this. Its the suspension that was cussing at me lol. I put the tractor as far back as possible on the trailer to help level it a bit. It didnt do much though.

This is the beggining of me building my first berm. Its in my own backyard. It replaced a gigantic ugly japanese beetle and bag worm attracting evergreen bush. I strapped it to my tractor to carry it off and it was so big when i lifted it all the way in the air it still touched the ground. you can see the dirt spot in front of the berm is about 1/4 of the are where the bush was. The rest is coverd by and behind the berm

lol ya i drug the trailer jack 4 times not hard though so no bends. And thats what im leaning towards it gets 20.2 mpg on a 52 gallon tank thats 1600 miles on a tank of diesel! And it just looks way cooler too lol

The back of my house was trashed when i bought it. Front was also. They parked a car in the yard in the front. That was fun. Try growing grass in soil that is as hard as concrete and soaked with oil and transmission fluid. Not Easy. Anyways i did alot of green work in the back and painted the deck. In the one picture there is a hot tub, Small standing propane tank, And the a/c. All disguised from the people looking at it. I live right on the first hole of the golf course. Golf balls in the yard all the time of course and my neighbors wear hard hats when they work outside lol its pretty comical. (until i get hit then im sure ill be wearing one lol) The last picture is the view from my back deck. Ive lived here a little over a year and love it so far.

Thankyou :) im going to continue around the right side of the house (when looking from back) next year. Lol the best part is once a month they have glow in the dark golf. They give them glow in the dark balls and clubs to play with and strap glow stuff on their golf carts. At the end of every hole if you par'd it you get a free drink. Nothing like a bunch of old men playing for free drinks! (alcoholic) LOL and at tournaments its hilarious to watch hundreds of golf carts scatter like ants

Nice name, man that hitch does not look like it's safe, do you have brakes on that trailer?
I like that tractor and if you end up going with a 4500 post pics!

spencer087

ya the hitch did worry me. I was pushing its limit of 5000# and 500# tongue weight. I do have a 10000# and 1000# tongue hitch in my toolbox but it has a 7 3/4" drop. The one on it is adjustable from like 2" to 8" or something like that

Got the plants and mulch in. I went with a pretty symmetrical design. The three bushes on top and the day lillys should disguise the ugly electrical box pretty nicely whenever they mature. Im thinking about installing lights? or a small pond in that dirt patch in front of it and lighting that? what do you think? P.S. im not finished i still need to put in edging and plant grass back.

Could have went all out and threw in a pondless waterfall to hide that box. Little pricey though haha.

hey i have messed with a tractor nearly exactly like yours, i has a bucket and everything. Are you happy with yours i thought the one i was using was a bit underpowered and too small even as an around the house tractor. I liked it i just thought a size bigger would have been better. What are your thought and what is the HP on yours??? Thanks!

You won't get anywhere close to 20.5mpg with a 4500 buddy.

My dad has a 07/08? 5.9L 2500 with the 3500 rear and gets like 15mpg

Yeh youre not going to get 20mpg out of a 4500. expect maybe 15 tops hwy.

I absolutely love the tractor. Its amazing what it will do. The only complaint is I wish the bucket was slightly larger. Whenever your moving an entire trailer load of dirt it would be nicer to be able to do it a little faster. Also waterfull woulda been cool lol maybe against the house in the corner lol. And that's what I thought too but the newer ones are actually de-tuned and have axle ratios that bring the fuel mileage up. The dodge has 14percent better mileage than ford and 23 better than gm in the class 4's. I don't know if the 3500 chassis cabs are detuned like this but I do know that the 4500 chassis cab is like this

Also I would go with the 2520 rather than 2320 like mine. It has a slightly bigger engine but the main difference is it has 2 hydro pumps. One for attachments and pto and one for the actual motion of the machine. It also has a rubberized floor board if your concerned about that lol. Its supposed to reduce vibration but the engine is mounted with rubberized mounts so there is hardly any vibration as it is.

P.S. It is a 24 horse with 18 hp pto I believe. But I would say you could run 20 hp pto attachments with no problem

hey thanks for the reply, i wasn't knocking the tractor i thought it was VERY useful i thought maybe a little more weight and a larger bucket would be nice, i was hauling a load of landscape blocks and it was losing alot of traction because it was tipping forward lol, just not enought rear end weight, i also had the bucket as low as i would get it haha

spencer087
07-05-2009, 11:20 AM
Ya rear us a little light. If that starts to hapen I just use the I match ang go grab my box blade real quick. They also sell a ballast box that is I match compatible. My rear tires are filled with fluid also so that helps out a lot. It never loses traction but you can definitly feel the rear end is much lighter. I guess you could use the 4 wheel drive if you lost traction from a heavy load

Getting yourself a load leveling system for your truck and trailer would be effective against draggin the leg and be a whole lot cheaper than replacing your truck until you have to. My 2 cents. Love the JD tractor.

if the new 4500's get 20mpg, that means they are getting better mileage than standard 1 ton pickups with the new diesels. theres no way thats possible. the lowest gear ratio you can get on them is like a 4.88 compared to say a 3.55, 3.73 or 4.10 in a 1 ton chassis. ya they are detuned a bit, say 300hp and 610lb ft from 350hp and 650lb ft, but thats just for engine and tranny longevity, more reliability, not for mileage.

Which truck does this? New? Used? Where did you get this data? I'm just saying, you might want to be very prepared to be very disappointed.

This is a copy and paste from allpar.

2008-2009 model year changes

As of the 2008 model year, the Ram 4500 and Ram 5500 have 23% better gas mileage than the Chevy Kodiak/GMC Topkick, and 14% better than the Ford F-550 Chassis Cab, with 20.2 mpg overall, according to the independent Transportation Research Center. The 3.92:1 axle ratio is now standard on diesels for better gas mileage.

6 inch Drop hitches, dirt, a tractor, and half tons don't mix to well bro.

Lol ya your absolutely right. I made the decision to get a 2500 and a gooseneck dump big enough to fit tractor in rather than a 4500 dump truck. My business is continuing to grow rapidly and I have decided it would be more beneficial that way I can run a landscape crew and a mowing crew at once.

a easier and cheaper fix would be a straight hitch when that loaded.

I'd run that half ton into the dirt.

spencer087
07-10-2009, 11:34 PM
I have a shorter drop hitch like a 2" but I didn't want to unhook it all and do all that jazz. And I plan on it. It'll stick with toting around that 16' until it rusts apart. Engines can always be fixed and the magnums last forever

So your saying you would rather scrape your trailer jack on the pavement while moving then to pull a pin out and change a hitch out?

not only that, you look bafoonish rolling like that.

Wow.

ProTouch Groundscapes
07-11-2009, 01:36 PM
all my hitches are overbuilit,

you should have gotten a hitch plate, solid 2" stock for the receiver then the big flat plate with four holes and throw a pintle combo on there at the correct height for a level trailer. my pintle is rated for 16K, ball is rated for 12K. I dont mess around with those stupid adjustable hitches, too dangerous.

oh and a 3.92 axle ratio on a 17K gvwr truck? not my cup of tea.

spencer087
07-11-2009, 02:04 PM
Ya ill save all that for the new rig though when I'm towing heavier stuff. And that's what I was thinking too but it also says it has the best acceleration of any truck in its class. It must be something with their new tranny. Great truck I want one but I just don't find that the best option right now. I can be more productive runing 2 rigs

Are you planing on getting a mower deck for the tractor or any other implements for it?

spencer087
07-11-2009, 02:36 PM
Yes right now I'm planning on a. brush hog and finish mower. Also eventually a backhoe for it and I'm trying to figure out how to get either a 4 in 1 or a grapple to work on it. I have a set of pallet forks over at the farm that I'm going to rig to fit on it as well. Those things are handy
