Im doing some landscaping and one of the beds has really sandy soil. when they did it themselfs last year, all plants died. I did a soil test and there nitrogen levels were really low..I should be able to fix that. Also the PH level was a lil on the higher side (PH 7.5-8). Any suggestions on plant combinations that can thrive in this kind of soil in Arkansas heat/sun that will look good?? Thanks!!

The best thing to do is heavily ammend the soil with water retaining materials, like compost and clay. Whatever you plant mulch it down good with woodchips.
Otherwise this sounds like a daytrip around nurseries. :)

Depending on what zone you are in, you could do more succulent varieties of plants that will require less watering and will be able to handle the stress of the sand. Maybe add some boulders or tasteful statuary in you landscape to help fill in.
You could also look around locally and see what naturally grows in some of the sandy areas around where you are.
