For those that haven't heard what I do for the 4th of July, I make a giant american flag out of my front yard. It takes a total of about 4+ hours from the start of my preperation until I finish. There are 13 stripes in the lawn with one large star in place of the 50 that measures about 25 feet accross. I've got pictures of what it looked like before and what it looks like when it is done. This is the second year that I have done this and I feel that this is much better than last year.

Very cool, I wouldn't have done it any other way.

How did you do the star exactly? I see that you marked it out ahead of time but how did you stripe it so it was all in the same direction? Everything looks good. Very impressive.

I used mainly a garden hose with a nozzle on it. I used the "jet" setting to get it to lay down the way I want and then use a broom with stiff brissels to assist in the striping.

It does take alot of time and I am actually very shocked that I have the patience to do this. It really wasn't too bad when I did it since it was only 70 degrees out, it would be worse if it were in the 80's or near 90.

Well, the grass in the front yard finally got too long and I had to cut it. I was a little depressed to see all my hard work vanish but after finishing mowing, I noticed that I could still see the star faintly. At least it lasted from Friday afternoon through this morning.

I've had so many people give me a hard time that I did only 1 flag and it looked like the texas flag and not the american flag, but it was all in good humor. I don't think I have the patience to do all 50 but who knows maybe next year I will.
