I'm in Southern California and the weather the past few days has been around 80 degrees. I set up a two man Slip-n-slide for my kids on Sunday.....took it off the lawn this morning (Tuesday) and more than 50% of the grass under the slip-n-slide is burnt. Some areas are worse than others. My grass is a tall fescue and my gardener comes on Fridays.

I gave the area a good soaking this morning, but I have no idea if there is anything I can do to help restore the burnt areas. I have two young boys and do not want to resead nor put down new sod. Will watering the area do the trick or am I going to have to put more effort in?

Thanks for any and all suggestions/tips. :)

yeah, leaving plastic on grass when it's 80 out will definitely do it. Probably got to well over 120 under that slip and slide. I would think it should grow back as long as the roots and crown weren't destroyed. Sounds like the blades just burned up. I would think keeping it damp might bring it back in several weeks. I could be wrong though.

Reseeding or replacing it with a roll of sod might be the best bet even though you said you didn't want to do it

PRobably keep it watered and it will be ok in a week or so

Same thing happened with my lawn over the weekend. Had the slip and slide down for 4 hours and it started to show signs of stress within an hour of removing it. Put extra water down and raise your mowing height a little, and it will be fine. My burnt area was already starting to turn around.
