I have a 4 year old Fastrak with 20HP Honda V-Twin engine.

Last week I was mowing and ran out of gas. I refilled the gas tank and it would start to crank but wouldn't turn over. This has happened before and I fixed it by replacing the sparkplugs.

Sparkplugs replaced and still no luck. I tried so much that I wore the battery down and I've since recharged the battery but still nothing on the engine.

Any other ideas? Starter maybe?

Did you switch to the tanks that you put the gas in?

Check the Fuel Filter. Ususally when you run out of gas it sucks all the junk up with it and sets it in the Fuel filter.

Do you have a carb drain at the bottom of the carbs? Open the spout and see if you are getting gas. Will it run on starter fluid sprayed into the cleaner. Do not do this more than once or twice. If it starts then it is not getting fuel.

I'm not very good about any of this stuff. I have no idea even how or where to spray starter fluid.

I usually put fuel in both tanks and the fuel filter has not been changed in some time.

Here is the engine manual:

Look at page 9 Take the air cleaner off. Make sure it is clean if it is not replace it. Then you will see carb air intake. Just shot a little bit of starter fluid in that hole not much. Then try to start the mower. If it fires then you are not getting gas. If you are not skilled at this type of thing take it to a dealer and pay the money to get it fixed correctly.

I never got this done yet but I had called my dealer and he's told me that my "coils" are bad and need to be replaced. To replace both coils plus labor and such he said that I'm looking at $500. I think that sounds a bit ridiculous.

Thoughts?
