I know a guy who owns a small engine repair place, he sells too. Anywho, some one brought in a Snapper 26" self propeled, and it needed $300 in parts. When she came to pick it up, she didnt want to pay $300, so she left it. He has a $500 price tag on it now, but said he will sell it to me. He thinks it might even be less than $300.
He said its not very old, im gonna check it our tomorrow when i pick up a rewind for our tiller, ill post pics.
It has a Robin motor on it, and its a side discharge.
Need input

So $800, 500 for mower, 300 for parts, right? What's wrong with it do you know the year, hydro or belt, fixed or floating deck, etc.? I wouldn't really know, but I'm sure that some others will help you out soon.

Im sorry, i think i said it wrong. He is asking $500 for it, but said he will sell it to me for like $300 (what he has in it) (possibly less)

If it is not in to bad of shape go for it. You can always buy the needed parts and fix it your self. My dad told me early on that the best way to learn is by doing and once you've done it you generally remember how to do it.

Not a bad price. If the deck is nice and the mower isn't all beat up!! Good luck

Heck yeah it's worth $300. The engine is worth that. I believe that Snapper offers a side bag catcher for those mowers. You wouldn't want anything too heavy (when empty) as that mower is not very heavy to start with.
If I had to guess, I'd say it was 5 to 7 years old, with limited use.
Certinaly faster than a 21", but a LOT cheaper than a 32" WB.

Yea, and it was owned by a homeowner, not a business...

I found some comps, they range from $850- $250...
I also remembered it has a 6 speed transmission...

Get it, you could use that instead of your push mower and get the smaller areas done faster.

Ah, the robin EH18. Best push mower engine I've ever used, double period.
Grab it before someone else does, if nothing other than use on dirty lawns. Parts for the robin will be expensive and hard to find but you won't need many.

I agree with mowerdude. Call him, leave a message if you have to, and tell him that you will buy it. It probably wont be sold before you get to it, but just to be on the safe side call it in and put a claim on it.
If it runs then what's wrong with it? You said that it needed $300 worth of work or did the guy fix it already.

I think that we were all a little confused with the original post. Post #8 cleared it up for me. "I think your confused, he will sell it to me for what he has in it... Which he said is like 300 or less... Here are pics". Based on the description & pics the mower should be well worth the ~$300 "parts & labor" asking price.

It would be another of those machines that, tempting as it might be,
simply would not lend itself to a proper hurling across the yard, which might
not be so bad but then it also won't fit inside the garbage container correctly.
Although now that I think about it a sledgehammer might serve the purpose, the problem with that is it involves labor.
So they figured like I would, just let it sit in that there corner, then some wise guy put that sign on it,
everyone got a chuckle out of it but then the next thing you know someone's asking about it.
Go figure.
