Whoa there buddy, you have a 12V. You can't put any sort of electronic boxes on a 12V. The good news is a lot of your power mods are very cheap, or free.

i didn't actually see if anyone offered a programmer for it but now that you say that it makes sense considering it is such a mechanical engine. oh well you can get alot of power just from adjusting a couple things.

i know with gas trucks (idk if this applies to diesel) you want to let it breathe. get an intake to allow more air in (more fuel), an exhaust to get that air out, and a tuner to literally re-tune the engine

...i think i got that right, correct me if im wrong...

Thanks sure was sad to see it go, put a lot of work into it! Stack was fun. Loved the way it looked, and sounded. Little loud for drivers side but I did it to be different. I have never seen one with just one stack on that side so I went with that. Towing mirrors I got from ebay for around 200 bucks, they are totally worth it. Look great and improve viewing times 10!

As soon as winter hits she is gettin a makeover. Complete with a built tranny :) ...XZT+, jammers, AFE intake, 6" miter stacks, DC-1 Black wheels, line-x rocker pannels, 3 gauge pillar pod, recon lights all around to match cab lights, debadged and replaced with 3rd gens, leveled 2 inches. I already took off those black nerf bars

Please leave the stacks to tractor trailers. They make you look like you're compensating for a lack of something else.

I didn't ask for your opinion. :hammerhead: But never again will I smash my tailpipe up on a snowbank. It's also required for sledpulling in many areas. I'm sure you and your s-10 know nothing about that though.

those old 12 valves will run like a damned mule. they are unstoppable. all mechanical, so no programmers are available. but you can be a man instead of a boy and make some pretty nice power on fuel only. haha. but i guess thats why im still a boy, i have some electronics helpin me.

And what is the reason for not wanting a Cummins?

The only reason not to want a cummins is the piss poor truck that is built around them. If you could have a chevy body and alisson trans with a ford chassis under it and a 5.9 cummins then you would have one hell of a truck.

Or we should go and make the perfect combonation with ford chasis, cummins motor and chevy body with the alisson.

Here's one pic and a link to a thread with some more pics. I love my Cummins. I recently replaced the bed rail caps with black diamond plate and painted the toolbox black to match. Also tinted the windows myself, which turned out ok. I'll get some pics of that later today.

Upgrades so far:

Quadzilla XZT+ 70hp chip
4" flow-through muffler
K&N filter
PEAK intercooler boots

Upgrades to come:

Air Dog fuel pump/filter
high performance turbo
possibly mild injectors, like Bosch 275hp
Transmission valvebody upgrade

Couple things to watch for when buying them. If you buy a 98-02 you have to watch for a couple things. First is the dreaded cracked block. Some of these crack on the passenger side under the head in a coolant water jacket. They crack due to a lot of different reasons. Heavy towing and high mileage are two reasons.

The fuel systems also has issues. The electronic transfer pumps on the side go bad starving the injection pump for fuel and it cracks the shaft internally on the VP44 injection pump. I would remove the stock pump and go aftermarket.

If I were going to buy one I would go pre 98 and a 12 valve mechanical. Too many sensors and issues on the newer ones.

Just wish the transmissions and front end of the trucks would stay together!!

Nice trucks. If anyone has any questions on their Cummins's please drop me a PM. Cummins is my day job ;) I got some nice pictures of some bigger engines if anyone wants to see them.

I commute 45 miles to work or I would buy one. Trying to talk the misses into letting me get one. I do have an 05 VW Jetta Diesel though.

The Allison tranny in the chevy isnt' a real Allison, it's been built to GM specs.

If you want a serious bruiser for a tranny, take the Dodge 48RE, install a BD Tans Valve Controler, shift kit and a billet TqConverter. The 47/48RE has straight cut gears, they run cooler and handle more torque.

this my plan for both of my chevys

91 1 ton 4x4 burb boxed frame
89 crew cab v3500 4x4 longbed

no ford chasis all chevy

thanks for the info on the dodge trannys i have a lot of reading to do but they make some super beef parts for the allison also

My Dodge has 80,000 hard miles on it and has gone through a couple U-joints. Not bad for a truck that tows and plows while pushing 450 hp to the rear wheels. I'm not sure what you guys are talking about

This is called the 53 block. The block is actually stamped 53 on it. It is hit or miss if it will crack or not and could happen anytime.

The fuel systems also has issues. The electronic transfer pumps on the side go bad starving the injection pump for fuel and it cracks the shaft internally on the VP44 injection pump. I would remove the stock pump and go aftermarket.

On a cold day that little 2.2 liter would skin it back. I drove it around for a couple of years like that before I sold it...it was a fun car.

The white truck was my first 2001 Cummins. It had 340k miles in it and ran like new. It got well over 20mpg. (5 speed with 3.55 gear)

The red one is an 02 with the HO motor and a 6 speed tranny and 4.10 gear, gets about 16 pulling

Ha ha. My point was that everyone is saying Dodges don't last. Mine is 5 years old and still has almost all of the stock parts. If I can tow and plow for 5 years and 80,000 miles and replace one u-joint, I think it's holding up pretty well.
